What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

Picked up a drywall screw after only 25 miles on my New Grabber tire. Put a plug in it.
Rust-oleum Flexidip on the rear wheels. Fronts I will do tomorrow.

 

I think what might be a factor in this is that fewer and fewer 1st gens came without ABS as the model years progressed. Maybe after the '02s there were none without ABS.

So far, Sloth's assesment seems to hold true. If your truck has ABS, the brake cable runs below the spring pack and behind the axle housing. Maybe someone with an '03 or '04 that doesn;t have ABS will speak up.

Frankly, I am very glad my '02 doesn't have ABS.

 

Got the stainless rear line installed, also you can see my exhaust which angles more towards the tire/leaf pack.

Installed my lift kit today... Mixture of ICON and Dakar...











I'll be installing my rear shock when I get them, supposeably on Tuesday.

 

I don't see any rear shocks here. Is this a new trend?

No not at all haha. Just waiting for my buddy to fab up the shock hoops. I'm going through the bed with some 12" fox resi's. I will have some drool worthy pictures on Friday

 

Thanks. I know I will. I've driven a second gen with ICON, and the ride was smooth, so I expect something similar to that.

I ordered my rear shocks, I just don't have them yet.

Exactly. . Looks like it just rolled off that assembly line.

 

Installed the sunroof shade that I scored on a few days ago.....couldn't be happier!!

California, they don't get rusty where I live, sorry guys!

 

I like Alpine nav units but they are expensive.

There's adapters that go through the 6 disc changer port in the back, but they're about as expensive as a basic aux/usb headunit.


Also some Scion headunits that have aux ports will fit where the factory radio is (research the models)

Decorated it for the 4th and discovered the infinite entertainment of tannerite. Holy balls that stuff is fun.

USA spec makes one that plugs into the 6 disc cd changer... I have one laying around after I got my new head unit

 

You still use/play CDs?

I bought the JVC digital media head unit and love its simplicity. No CDs, just USB and Bluetooth compatible. (plus FM/AM obviously)

 

There is an adapter but you loose the 6 disk changer. That's where it plugs into. I have 1 for sale half price

$60 plus shipping. Gonna throw it on c-list later if you decide to keep your 6 disk.

But in all honesty it's prob better to just buy an aftermarket deck. Only reason I did was to add Sirius radio. Then I gained hands free calling, and it connects to my phone via Bluetooth anyway so I can still play music from my phone if I want.

Get a Blaupunkt head unit if you don't want flashy bullshit. About the only reputable brand that doesn't have all kind of lights and laser shows included.
