    Greetings all,

I haven't registered until just now but I've been keeping up with this site for a couple of years now. I have a 2006 Xrunner that has given me quite some good times through the years but with 140k on the clock and a baby on the way, its time to move on (I didn't plan on buying it back then but I thought they looked nice and went for a test drive in one and to this day I still don't know if I liked the truck that much or the salesman was that good at his job but lets just say my F150 didnt leave the lot that day :D)

I've been looking up and down at different models and even looked at a few other brands as well but my Xrunner has NEVER left me stranded on side of the road or had any repairs besides the usual maintenance. One that I haven't seen many of on this site is the SR model, in particular a double cab V6. The color I want for certain is white and I found that the SR package has pretty much everything Im looking for with everything color matched and black wheels (all its missing is some plastidip on the emblems all the way around.) The only thing I plan on adding to it is a hood scoop which Im going to see about getting a discount when I buy the truck and some black sliders down the road to go along with the "storm trooper look" but nothing too serious.

A few questions I have are
    1) What can I expect the MSRP to be/pay for a basic SR model?
2)Are these region specific? (I went to the two closest dealerships in my area and neither knew what I was talking about nor had one on their lot. The first was too busy trying to sell me a TRD sport on the lot while the other was convinced I meant the SR5 package)
    3) Are they all pretty much basic models or do some come with upgrades? Im really trying to get it as bare bones as possible as long as its white with the V6 engine. One I was looking at online didnt even look like it had the steering wheel controls which is fine with me. The Bluetooth feature would be nice but Im really on a budget though I don't mind paying a little more to get a Tacoma because of how well they hold their value and this engine seems very reliable.

Thanks for the help and if anyone else has any other comments about the SR, please feel free to chime in. I've been looking at cargurus as well as autotrader as well in the surrounding areas but I cant seem to find any with this package  If I talked to the right person, Im sure I could sit down and order one but I was really hoping to find one on the lot because I've heard dealers work a little better with prices as far as moving vehicles off the lot as opposed to ordering them. Im really going to miss the Xrunner and even explored options of keeping it but this decision just seems like the smart choice for our family right now.

I too was convinced you meant the SR5 package, I've never heard of an SR package. Maybe it is a regional thing, where did you learn of it's existence, and was it a credible source?

never heard of an "SR" package... and the trusty 'ol google search returned nothing... not sure where you heard of such a thing but I've definitely NEVER heard of a tacoma with stock black wheels unless you mean the Baja sorta grey wheels with simulated beed lock..?

Thanks for the response! From my best understanding, its a new package for 2014 with the black wheels, tinted headlights, and the rear bumper, grill, and fenders all color matched. Heres some pictures of various ones in the thread below. Its just a little odd because out of all of the Tacomas I see driving around on the streets as well as the lots I drive by, I've never seen one in person.

the SR package is a nice option. If Im not mistaken, its a step below the sr5 package. It includes black wheels, color matched grill, smoked headlights, and no scoop.

OP, are you looking at pre runner, or 4wd?

The SR package seems to be pretty hard to find. I've managed to find one at my local dealership. After that one, that was it. It didn't seem to last long either. I can say I did like the headlights.

I have a 2014 SR DCB. It was 28900. It had the factory towing, tinted headlight, fog lights, power windows, matched fender flares and mirrors with turn signals in the mirrors. And the Entune Basic model. I added the backup camera, the wiring and display were already there and changed out the wiper stalk to add variable wipers.

Thanks, nope, little more noise than stock, I was surprised but that is what everyone was saying about them. I had BFG mud km's and MT MTZ's and they have less noise than them. I just hope they wear well.

    You mean one like this?

    2E861AF6-B715-4FAF-AE4F-6C83F8FB36FC_zps_4ee88bf0a342faea4e73afe705ac3d425b1b4b24.jpg

I just bought mine two weeks ago. It's a 4x4 with a long bed. I love it. In my opinion, the SR package is the best value out of all of them. I had to hunt this one down, a lot of the dealerships I spoke to didn't know wtf I was talking about. It comes standard with the steering wheel controls and Entune Plus without navigation. The black rims and color keyed grille, mirrors, fender flares, and bumpers make it look just as good as the TRD sport (minus the hood scoop but who cares?). I was stoked to find this package because I wanted the color keyed parts and I specifically did not want to pay extra for the TRD package since it's pretty much just stuff that I'm going to buy aftermarket anyways, but the aftermarket parts I will be getting for it are far better than anything Toyota has to offer (IE stereo, suspension, etc...)

The SR package is a little bit harder to find but well worth it when you consider what you're getting for so cheap. It's a good step above the SR5 package for literally $40 more on the sticker price.

I got mine for just under $32,000 in southern California which was way less than any of the TRD Package ones out here.

I sold my 2007 Tacoma with 115k miles on it to use as my down payment for the new one. I love how well Toyota's hold their value. My old one sold for almost 70% of its original sticker price after 7 years and all of those miles on it.
