I checked my VIN and only the first 3/4 match up.......or I don't know how to read a VIN.

Both my DTRL's were burnt and cracked to hell. 72k got them installed today. Looks great, the chrome in the lights seem darker, almost seem blacked out but not. Maybe it's the reflection picking up my paint.

On the Toyota release listed above :
On my 09 - first 3 chars were 5TE - matched column labeled WMI
4th thru 7 chars matched column labeled VDS
ignore the next 2 chars of your vin (8th and 9th)
last 7 chars of my vin were in the range of the last 2 columns labeled start and end

Sctacoma4x4, thanks for the heads up on the DTRL replacement. I took my 2010 DCSB with 51K in yesterday. They replaced both of them no questions asked. I believe they have to replace both of them even if one lens is bubbled up or cracked. Being that the lens is completely redesigned. Our trucks wouldn't even look right with mismatching headlights.

Went into the dealership today to get my oil change under warranty. I mentioned the TSB to my service representive and 3 hours later, new headlights, like if they have them waiting for people to come in..............kinda bummed that they are not amber anymore :/

The lights are amber just get level with them. They cut them in a way the amber is more focused dead center and less so @ 90 degrees. Also the housing seems to be more of a gun metal grey than chrome, to me at least.

Thanks for the heads up on this. I have a 2011 out of warranty and only 25K miles in it. Took it in today and showed the dealer the paper. They have new headlights in stock and will do it on Monday. I like the DRLs on
(on the road) and was not happy about the melting.

Since we are talking about headlights, what's a good Protectant to stop the yellowing ?

Got the letter, my passenger side lens had bubbled and cracked a year ago and the headlight filled with condensation since then, too.

My dealer said the 'enhanced warranty' only covered the one lamp and not both. I protested because after the replacement, I now have one clear and one older amber lens lamp. The service writer said the older lens was clear and only turned amber with age!

The manager took photos and said she would contact corporate and see if they will replace the other... a day later, the call came and I was told NO, only a defective lamp will get replaced.

How about it guys, is this BS from my dealer or will Toyota only warranty a lamp that has melted/ cracked and not the pair, so the truck has the same colored lenses on both sides?

I got the letter and the sticker to add to the book. Nothing I read or recall said both lamps if only one is damaged. I protested when they wouldn't do both, specially after I saw one is clear and the older is amber, but was told no, only if it is bad will they replace it.

Go to another dealer. The TSB states that both headlights must be replaced. Call corporate and ask them about tue TSB and mention that they must both be replaced. Then tell them that he dealer refused to replace both.

The letter might not say that both have to be replaced but the TSB does.

I did not see this thread and started one and posted in another. Went in for an oil change on my 09 PreRunner and mentioned the TSB. He looked and found a notice to replace them. So two new headlights have been ordered. Both are bubbled badly currently. Hope this also stops the plug from discoloring. I am worried that may be the next failure, shows signs of high heat.

Also my SA said it is not a TSB it is some other type of notice. He printed a copy and put it on file for his other customers to save time.

If some has access to the TSB, can you post that information on this thread? We've only established that the letter being sent to customers of Toyota is that the defective headlight is the only one to be replaced. It says nothing about both. If someone here needs the TSB to print out and take with them along side the Enhancement Letter, then we as members of TW are equipping each other to take advantage of this exchange of headlights.

Just looked at your link and it was ToyotaParsMan who posted a PDF about the headlight...
Here it is and it says ONLY the bad headlight is to be covered and NOT both!

I would live to have both look the same, so please post a Toyota link that says both, this one does not:

Toyota is announcing a Warranty Enhancement Program to cover the replacement of the headlamp assemblies if the inner daytime running light/turn signal has become
    distorted or bubbled in appearance.
