I dont see why you couldnt order a frame yourself.Im sure independent bodyshops have done that

the biggest question though is cost, i can see the cost for the frame+cabin+doors+front fenders+hood adding up quick

The thing is now if toyota does recall 2nd gen for frame rust they wont be able to keep with demand and they would keep all frames in-house no outside sales.I am seriously thinking about getting 1 in the future for my 1st gen when my frame finally turns to dust

Yea i see that too the trucks are "cheaper" because they are mass produced, but if you wanted to build one from the ground up I'd expect heavy costs

yeah, my idea would be mainly to use a crate engine/transmission/transfer case to help keep the cost down, as well as using the Tacoma body so parts are more readily available, and to try to keep one-off or custom parts to a minimum to allow for the ease of repair/upgrades.

You should look at the parts list that gets replaced when they do a frame job, all kinds of mounts and such, even LCA i think.

Yeah i know just suprisr main frame was that low, besides if I do that I would be replacing most those parts with after maket pieces.be cheaper to get a old chevy truck with a solid axle and make new body mounts for the tacoma body

Oh Yea! I test drove one and was hitting back roads at 50-60 mph without even losing traction. I thought about trading the truck in on the spot Lol but I love off roading way to much.

No way I could fit the whole family in the FRS - that's why I went with the tC. If it had a real backseat I'd own one.

I looked on their website, but they dont sell complete frames, yet they have all the parts listed as coming with some "complete frame assembly" that i cant find anywhere.. i do have a pending request with the current TW contact point there to see if he can find it though.

Speaking of rust....we just did this to my dad's new xtracab. 04 with only 107k on it. Took the bed off, Sanded down and treated with POR15, then boxed and welded the entire frame from the cab back!
