What paper are you talking about? I need all the ammo I can get to show my dealer here in SC. My truck was in NJ up until Dec. 2013. Right now, I am SOL!

I went thru the same rigmarole. They basically told me SOL until it was in my state. You'll probably hear the same thing.

I did read it but I didn't see anything that said it wouldn't show up. If it doesn't show up on that site, how would you find out about it if they didn't send you a notice?

I emailed corporate first, then called. I also filed with NTHSA but I doubt anything comes of that. They responded to the email the next day, gave me a time they would call the following day and then I talked to someone at corporate.

Did you call the dealer about your VIN? You should be covered since you were in Jersey. Current location of a vehicle that was located in one of the states previously should not be deniable, but what do I know..

I bought the truck used back in late January from a dealer in Charlotte NC. I had no idea 2nd gens were having the frame rust issue until I got on TW. I got under my truck with a screwdriver and started poking around the frame by the driver side cat. Sure as hell, it started coming apart. Dealer here in Charleston documented it, but said I would have to deal with corporate myself. Thats gotten me no where yet! I'm probably going to end up driving 4 hours back up to the dealer where I bought it from. This shit really sucks!

I just filed a complaint with the NHTSA website about my frame issues. i suggest everyone does the same, to document your issues and maybe if there is enough complaints filed eventually there will be a recall the same way the 1st gens had. I'm going to call corporate tomorrow and see what is going on with this campaign in NY. When I brought my truck in to the dealer in the end of May they played dumb. Toyota corporate told me I was out of luck and that NY would be among the second group of states authorized. And now I'm reading Canada and apparently Kentucky are replacing frames. Congrats to you guys who are having a much better go at this than I am, but this bullshit may turn me off of Toyota when it comes to my next truck. Hopefully I get a better answer tomorrow when I try contacting corporate.

Any "Lemon law" is probably long gone for your state ... but if the LSC was out when you purchased and it Could of been in a state with the LSC, perhaps the dealer can be persuaded doing the right thing before this goes any further?? I'm sure New Customers to this dealer would like to know what they did to you along with possible culpability of the dealer.

I'd lean on the dealer a whole lot. Perhaps a buy back in this case and your swap to another vehicle??? Then I'd follow with the std complaint process. (Letter to dealer, Corp, NTSB, etc. ....) I'd be really pissed if they sold me that truck -that DID NOT rust on in the months you purchased it.

    Hey guys,

Has anyone in Canada with a US truck received this LSC letter? I recently bought a used Tacoma and noticed that people in my area are receiving the letters but my truck has a US VIN. I tried calling Toyota Canada but they told me they could register me but they can't look anything up with regards to my VIN because it is from the US. My truck has been in Canada since 2008 and does have a good amount of rust on the frame, not sure what I should do.

I have tried to register with Toyota.com but they require a US address so I couldn't complete the registration. I did do the VIN lookup though and nothing shows up for my vehicle.

I'd try giving them a call but my guess is they will say my VIN is not on the list yet. Has anyone who has moved from a southern state to a northern state had any luck getting the LSC done even though the vehicle was not purchased in a Northern state?

Send Toyota USA an Email (So it is documented ... I hate Telephone calls) asking Them just where you should go for service?? Canada says is USA and the USA site will not let you register .... They have responded to me - sometimes takes a couple days.

Yup told me the same thing today. I might still go to the Dealership and have them inspect it. So that when it does come to NY maybe I will be in the system already for frame rust.

Wait to have it inspected, just in case its worse by the time it comes to your state.
