They were. If I decide to kill some time during this beautiful weekend, I'll try to post up some links. Researching suspension online is ridiculous! Another option is to run 887 springs. They are the same rate at the 885's but a little taller. Could help in some situations I guess.

I love the ride with my 5100/885x set up, however I put my plate bumper on with no winch and my front end started to sag instantly. I did put a 1/2 top plate on the drivers side, and a 1/4 on the pass side and I did get my lift back, however I feel like its just a band aid. I only went that route because I already had them in my garage. I think for me , I will be going toward the ome 886 route.

I like where this thread is going. Bored Clerk, I appreciate your input.
So I've mentioned this I before, the KYBs I pulled out had more up travel than the 5100s. I'm half way tempted to put 886s on those KYBs and see what comes of it. They are the KYB Excel G model. Looks to be an OEM replacement.

I have seen a pic or two of factory trd off road bilsteins that have broken with 886 springs on them. The 5100's appear to be built a little more stout than the factory stuff. I think most of the 'no 5100's with 886's' stuff comes from the failures found on factory Toyota bilsteins.

I still need to dig up other threads/posts regarding this issue and post them here. Maybe I'll get to that in the next few days. Of course, it's not hard to find doing a google search and then wading through 10-15 threads on the subject.

You can't run 886's or 885's for that matter on stock Bilsteins

I'm not doing your searching for you , you said you have researched a bunch of people running 886/5100 combos , lets see it

Alright...settle down. You are so serious sometimes.

There are not a 'bunch' of people running that combo but there are some that have successfully run them.

My life isn't this forum so I'll put up the threads when I feel like it. I found all of this information so it's not like it's difficult or hidden.

Ok I searched, and read and searched and read some more. I see lots of posts saying you can't or shouldn't but not backed up by any reasoning or proof of issues. Actually it looks like every time the topic comes up Oz you're in there saying no can do.... again without supporting facts. Sooooo I'm gonna do it and report back. I daily drive my truck, I wheel my truck fairly hard, not to be interpreted as abused, so this should be a pretty good platform for testing.

Yes. I'll be doing this as well. Unless you report back that it sucks! Haha.

Good to see someone had balls and is going to provide data, one way or another.
I'm gonna stick around for Oz's possible "told you so".

Here is some reading regarding OME shocks and 886 springs. Doesn't sound like THE way to go to me. Seems like the shock was optimized for the 885 and softer springs. Even OZ knows about these top-out issues.
