I think they must spray paint or add tint to the covers. It just seems so dark.

 

I hate shit like that. Makes you wonder if you rear end them would it even be any % of their fault? It can't be legal

The lights, both front and rear, are made by the manufacturer to meet this safety standard. An alternate or additional material, particularly something dark, would impair its effectiveness. Additional information on lighting can be found in the Texas Transportation Code, Chapter 547, Subchapters D & E.

The inspection criteria for tail lamps states: "Tail lamp. Inspect and reject if: lamp is obstructed by any part of the body."

 

texas state law is, you have to have a red reflective in the rear and Amber in the front. .
If those shine with the dark film, then it legal

 

I know some that you can't see any amount of light through them, pitch black and you don't know when they hit the brakes

 

This. I've seen key chain lights that had more lumens on them.

IMo you don't need SUA on a trailer if you plan on hauling it to its destination and setting it up. Better off putting a spare axle under it with a spare set of leafs you can actually use, then mock up a spare driveshaft to go with it as well, spare parts out the ass!

Yep, but the call would drop after the 4th or 5th ring. Tried 4 times. The problem was on my end,I think. I was going to try later but never got around to it. Next time, before I go to Houston, I will call in advance to see if the have what I need.
