I know there is a lot of chrome hate these days, but I think it looks good as long as its not over used. Has anyone here ever chromed their front skid plate and how did it hold up over time? I don't off-road but it would still get hit by road debris.

That is the definition of over using chrome.

just do it! haha :) better option would be to get an aluminum one and just polish it. Then it would not get chipped, and you could just polish it every once in a while, or clear coat it. I don't know where you live but aluminum sucks on salted roads. Or get a cheap mirror from walmart and glue it to your skid haha.
I personally don't like chrome but a lot of people don't like camper shells. its your truck!

My other idea was to paint it white to match the truck. I like the storm trooper look, but my step bars are chrome, and my grill is chrome. I feel that a white skid plate might look off balance.

Just make your truck how YOU like it, because no matter what you do some people who you will never meet in real life will dislike it on the internet.

Your truck, your decision. Personally, I would leave the skid as is it paint it white, then take the $ and get a color matched grille. Then get either paint the steps black or spray bed liner on them. But then again, aside from the steps, I have gotten rid of all the chrome on my truck.

Color matching works well. Have it done to mine.

Wouldn't use anything of high quality though if you ever plan to "use" your skid plates but I'm not sure that will be the case if your wanting chrome it.

I just don't like your truck because you haven't put underbody lights on it yet (that I have seen anyways). Can't work under it in the middle of the night out on the trail without a flashlight.

OP, if you aren't sure you will like it, get a can of chrome spray paint. Try it with that before spending the $ to have it fully chromed. You may end up not liking the look. Either way, be sure to post pictures.

It is aluminum and it's been done. Looks like a lot of work.

I actually like chrome....in moderation. The skid plate will get eat up with road debris. I would go black on the skid plate...it will help to hide the road rash.

I thought about it but that's a little too much.

I do plan on adding some white LED strips to the bottom of the doors and tying them into the dome light circuit. That way when the doors open I'll have ground lighting.
