personally i wouldn't run retreads. just read a thread about a guy who had treawrights and had a blow out at 15k miles... tire failed with normal even wear

EDIT: found the thread for you....

Speaking to the contrary of that.......I ran Treadwrights for 2 years and 30K miles and only got a flat this last month before trading them out. But I also treated them like crap, didn't rotate them, and drove them daily. But I got their Guard dog version on a BFG carcass. So I had good luck with them.

This is the ones that I had.

not saying all treadwrights are bad but being they are retreads like stated in the thread i posted they could have a hidden stress to them inside the carcass whereas the outside rubber looks near perfect.

glad you had good luck with them but they just are not my cup of tea so to speak

sorry i wasn't trying to change your mind on them i thought i would just give you some info on them... if money is tight then by all means run them I'm sure just like cloudy you'll have good luck with them as well. but if money isn't an issue there are better options out there. i know the price of the treadwrights is great but now you know why!

Yea thanks, I am looking around for other options. Just for a 120 a tire its hard to beat.

What about load range, I am sure that D is just fine, but E would be a stiffer tire on our trucks. May last longer.

In regards to load range I believe that is mainly dependent on the sidewall play and the initial carcass layup not necessarily the tread.

Load Range E really, really, and I do mean, really suck on 1st Gens. Just not enough weight unless you know you're going to be towing. They might be ok if you play with the tire pressure or expect to be carrying a RTT and several hundred pounds of gear.

I always make sure Silas orders D's whenever I get new tires. The only place higher rating helps with longevity is sidewall strength.

The Hankook Dynapros get some good reviews.

    QUESTION:

Is it LEGAL to go off roading where you see some of these people in their jeeps, atvs and dirtbikes.. they are right off the road in what look like dried out waterways and open areas.

I just want to make sure I am not going to get pulled over or ticketed for taking my truck out there.. I would rather find a legal place to do it rather than risk getting ticketed.

Hey guys, just got back from Telluride, Co and I did the Imogene pass. It was pretty cool. Nothing to crazy, had to find good lines because I had my hitch carrier on and only scraped 3 times.

I am not a lawyer nor am I giving legal counsel but, all depends on where.

If it is marked as private property you can be cited for trespassing.

I don't know the motor laws here in NM well enough to know if driving in washes is illegal. Some places in Tucson, it was. (And, yes, peeps drove through the Rillito and Santa Cruz river beds to avoid traffic) They were posted with "No Motor Vehicle" signs though.

Where exactly are you talking about?
