It's like a plastic strip but I've got it mounted right around the lense holder, I'll see if I've got pictures in my hidplanet forum

You can see where I used aluminum tape to secure the wire so that it doesn't bounce around loosely. Under it there was a little swear the exact size of the LED

Hmm. I'll figure it out. Think I'll try jb welding it onto the shroud facing down. Maybe run a small bead of weld over the plastic strip too to help with the heat. Just to be safe.

Id imagine it's a pretty heat resistant plastic, mine are literally mount around the frame and I'd imagine no other part gets hotter then where mine are

More output from your projectors?? You got an led bar man. Ha. I was thinking about upgrading to better projectors but I'll stick with the minis. Got plenty of light for normal driving then all my led bars for high beams. I guess if you can't use your light bar enough like I can then I'd understand. I'm not putting any more money into projectors. Except maybe if I need something additional with my new set I already have waiting to be installed. I've already bought 3 housings of the 1 piece headlights, New 6.0 minis, and lots of leds. It's endless. I have to stop. Lol. That's why I'm waiting to work on my next set. Slowly planning it that way it's a one time install and I don't wanna mess with it again. I almost got to the point of saying screw it and remove ALL the halos and just have the projectors plain with only the bulbs to service. Got tired of them going out. But I'm sure they've worked out all the issues by now with the halos (bad voltage regulators). I had so many headaches with my retro. Anyways.. my only advice is to make sure you have it how you really want it and plan accordingly.
And yes. We need more pics!!
Here's a shot of my truck as she sits today with all my dtrl's. I'm gonna be cleaning it up for my next set and make it all cleaner.. Remove some stuff, disable the led strip that's in the bottom of the headlight (which is part of that housing). My truck looks like a damn amusement park ride or sum shit. lol. However they do look much better in person...

More light output you say? How about switching projectors? I just did a TL-R retrofit on mine, and even though it took forever, I'm ecstatic with the increase in output. Especially where the highbeams are concerned. And if I were to upgrade bulbs or change to a 55w system, they would be even brighter!

Here's what they look like on the truck. The painted shroud may not look like much, but it took forever to get right. Not to mention I had to modify both the projector AND the shroud to get them to mate up.
    IMG_20140910_080124924.jpg

Here's both of the previous FX-R 3.0s on highbeam
    IMG_20140906_210822117.jpg

And both new TL-Rs on highbeam
    IMG_20140906_220528217_HDR.jpg

    Only one FX-R 3.0
    IMG_20140906_213909724_HDR.jpg

    Only one TL-R
    IMG_20140906_213902266_HDR.jpg

The TL-Rs have what looks like a deadspot right in front of the truck as you can see, but when you're sitting in it you can barely even tell. This one was taken from head level inside and you can just see where the beam starts.
    IMG_20140906_220601597_HDR.jpg

Sorry for the shitty pictures, I wasn't trying to make a professional before and after, I was just so impressed I snapped a few pics while installing them. The colors are all wrong and some are grainy, but let me tell you the TLs are WAY brighter, with a MUCH wider and brighter hotspot.

Mine are pretty dim too. Seems like they've gotten dimmer over time. Compared them to my brothers newly installed minis same model and his are much brighter than my ~3 year old ones.
And just remember, if you go with halos, you'll be lucky if you don't have to replace them within the first ~6 months..
