    Hello team,
My first post here. Let me jump right in.
I’m in the process of buying a Tacoma 4x4, crew cab short bed (2014 or 15 which ever works the cheapest), TRD off road.
    Questions:
    #1
What did you pay for your new ones? And year?
    #2
What you think about TRD pros? My heart is set on TRD pro but at 37K sticker price before tax:confused:…well, still thinking:confused:
    #3
Color: Pyrite Mica, black or white ( in that order)Do we have any pyrite mica trucks here? Can you post some pictures?

Chances are you are going to want to change stuff on your truck after you buy it. So just get the OR and save your money for mods.

Most newer tacomas have replaced the auto dim rear view mirror with an 80's rear view mirror. Before you seal the deal have them throw in the auto dim for free. They shouldn't think twice about it. It may be just a tiny perk but if you can get them to throw it in at no cost then I say go for it.

I went to two dealerships...none have TRDs Pro (or TRDs) in manual. They suggested; the only way to get it is to "buy it"(make a deposit) and they will get it in 6-8 weeks. Also, the TRD pros that are coming in is all automatic and reserved. There is not one around SFO bay area that is not booked yet(well, I'm not interested in automatics anyway).

I did some math, the price difference between a TRD and TRD pro is about $3.5k.
    Questions:
#1 How much does a 2-3 inch lift including installation cost?
#2 what is the biggest tire that you can fit under a 2 inch lift?

Go SR5 or convenience package and buy a lift that involves a whole new suspension.

Ask the dealer to remove the OEM rubber floor mats and the markup for them ($200-$250), and buy yourself some weathertechs.

Do not buy a Toyota skidplate. For the same money you can get a much bettet aftermarket one.

The only factory accessories I reccomend buying are a bed mat and hitch.

#1 $2000 for OME with new leaf packs and LR UCAs, but if you're moderately mechanically-inclined, I reccomend installing it yourself (save $400-$500)

SR5 will get you the most bang for your buck in my opinion. You pay the least for the truck, meaning more money for mods.

If you REALLY want a locker, go for a TRD OR. That'll get you the locker without having to put it in aftermarket.

If you like hoodscoops and 17" fancy rims, go for the TRD sport.

OP: Figure out your needs then buy accordingly. I bought an OR based on previous trucks I owned. I'm not hard off roader but Atrac sold me on an OR. I will do OME 885 front with Dakar rears. spacers all around with 33's(or near). add sliders and a topper and I'm done. Based on Beavis' set up> ( tahnks Beavis for insights)

    Your needs/mileage may vary.

If I was single, I would have bought ex cab OR. Babies. lol.

It's a package that Toyota offers. On the Tacoma it includes color-matched overfenders and front bumper, navigation, intermittent wipers, chrome grille ring and rear bumper, backup cam, lumbar seats, cruise control, remote keyless entry, and probably a few more things I can't think of right now.

I think you have to go SR5 or TRD to get Pyrite Mica.I believe there are some other colors that are only available in the more expensive packages, but that stuff changes year-to-year.

After 3 months of ownership, and a year of research, i would still buy an offroad. I went dcsb because child and growth. single, i would have bought an offroad EC. New, Offroad package is spendy, 1-3 years down the road, not so much. back in June when I bought, an Ofroad was maybe $300 more than a sport.

Pyrite is my favorite color and I wish I could switch. Save your money for mods, you'll need them! Make sure you get a 4x4 with two package. I suggest saving 10k and going for a used low mileage vehicle if cost is a factor, and get the color you want the first time to avoid future trades. Shop smart and make the dealer sweat, let them know you are interested, but low ball them and make them wait at least 7 - 10 days before you pounce on their lowest possible price. Good luck, and welcome to the money pit!

This might help explain the different driving "modes" you get with a Tacoma: http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/showthread.php?t=70551

Hopefully this can help you determine if you need/want the elocker. Otherwise, get the SR5 4X4. Make sure it is a 4x4 though (going off your original post).

31.5k (CND) for my 2014 Tacoma SR5 V6 automatic. Was 32k + preparation and handling fees. Asked them to pay all the fees + remove another .5k, they accepted. Saved about 2k.

Financed @ 0.9% because we're at the end of 2014. 2015 would have been 3.9%.

Can't expect to save much, they don't make a lot of profit over new cars, they make their profits with the warranty extensions, addons, garage reparations, installations, etc.

Get what you need. TRD Pro is more for show than go. You can always add the Pro wheels, TRD exhaust and grill down the road if that's what you want. I wasted my money buying my 2002 TRD. I wish I got a TRD prerunner double cab.
