Replacing front brakes??

Dealer said I'm down to 3mm on my front pads and they want $190 to replace

I'm thinking about ordering this upgrade and was wondering if anyone has installed the power stop kit K137-36 and if so how do you like it??

Also appreciate input or advice on any other kits available with pads and rotors.

Ebc stage 5 work great

I'm cheap so I'll change my own brakes and save a few bucks.

 

bought these a few months ago. damn what a difference! my wheels actually lock up when i slam on the brakes now haha. make sure you heat cycle them to break them in properly.

EBC kit is a great way to go, we've got a special for you guys here. Stage 3-5 are nice upgrades, and stage 1 is a stock equivalent.

The brakes are pretty easy to replace, if you just need pads go with a set of Hawk LTS, they are about 85 shipped and drop right in.

Rock Auto has the Wagner Severe Duty front brake pads for about $45, and once you pull the front wheels, 20 minutes to install. No need to pull calipers, just pull the pins, wiggle the old pads to retract pistons and reassemble.

Wagners are decent & last a while, good OE level pad. The EBC or Hawk pads have a noticeably shorter stopping distance and bite level.

For rotors - EBC, DBA, Powerslot / Stoptech are all nice high end replacements. If you have ever developed "warped" rotors which shake the steering wheel when you brake from towing or offroading or whatever reason, slotted rotors will really help prevent that.

 

I beg to differ on the Severe Duty...these are far superior to OE level pads...I have used EBC pads extensively on motorcycles with good success, I like Raybestos or Wagner on four wheeled equipment.

I don't think there is any need to by boutique pads for a pickup.
