Used up some paint I had to paint my old cooler. It was looking pretty stained up from living in the bed of the truck. Also hit my tie downs and put those back on.

Not much of a "mod" but frugal for sure. $1 from a yard sale and some leftover paint. A little extra storage for my winter stuff.

    my one and only mod

first version, and working on version 2.0

Still getting use to using the hot wire cutter with furniture foam, 2.0 is using footer foam board leftover from job sites and will have a plastidip finish or a speaker box carpet lining. since 2.0 is scrap foam... it's free!!!

This project has taken quite a bit to finally complete. I used the DIY Hi-Lift and Tool Mounts write up to mount my shovel. Not the cheapest mod due the number of different pieces needed, and I bought extra for additional mounts. It was spread out over a couple months and felt thrifty. I am very happy with the result.

I love it when things are cheap and easy! I was going to use my flex stalk mount for my Nexus 7, but it fits perfectly above the cup holders. I have an Otterbox case which has a rubber surround. The case and rubber cupholders work to keep the whole thing from sliding around and the case base adjusts for perfect viewing angle. The Nexus has a built in GPS and I also use a BlueTooth OBDII reader. All the info is at my fingertips.

I'd like more info on this app. What information does it give you. I just checked out their website and the info seems pretty limited (unless I missed it)

I use torque as well on my Nexus. It has a bunch of info, but is dependent on your truck's ECU. For the Tacoma you can see coolant temp and intake air temps, but not oil temp or transmission temps. I can see A/F mixtures, get approximate MPG, O2 readings, RPM, Volts, vacuum, fuel flow. The Nexus will provide things like GPS speed, lateral G's and positional data.

The app will read you everything that buying an ultra gauge will. But you have to buy the full app, but it's not very expensive

i run coolant, tranny temp, engine load, instant mpg, intake temp, afr's, throttle pos, and fuel rate, but u can see voltage, cat temps, it will keep track of ur best 1/4's 1/8's 0-60 etc. it does just about everything a scangauge/ultragauge will do i guess. reads codes and can clear them. there are several features that dont work with our trucks but like the trans temp, there are addition PID's u can enter to get readings. there is a thread in the performance section about the app that is like 100 pages or so if u get bored. ha

Oh man, I need tranny temps. Can you give me more info or links on the PID? I just scanned the available sensors, and didn't know I can add my own.

It will literally give you everything your ECU can provide. Its a great app. Something like $6 plus a cheap ODBII Bluetooth adapter.
