I think some of you will appreciate this. I love how it came out.

Speaking of a wrench day, I'm starting the planning for a wrench week in October, most likely Oct 13th (Columbus Day) thru to the 18th. I don't have specifics but I will be installing the S/C + 7th Inj, rebuilding the rear suspension and a couple other small projects.

If anyone wants to help out, stop in or has projects they'd like some help on, let me know. I'll be getting details posted here as the week gets closer.

I've never been to one if your wrench days, but I'm game. I need a 2nd to re-bleed my brakes after doing Tundra brakes tonight.

Things are shaping up schedule-wise and should have plenty of time to help you out with a bleeding. Not sure of your schedule but Thu. the 16th or Fri. the 17th would be most likely. I'll be looking to get help bleeding my rear brakes one of those days depending on how fast the paint dries on the axle so two birds with one stone. If you have other days that you think will work better let me know.

And if you need it done sooner, let me know. If I'm not at the gym or helping SGT Taco, my weekends are usually open.

I just may take you up on that Monday perhaps. If my boss (AKA wife) lets me ;) The big question is - what kind of beer you like?

Ok cool. My brakes are decent. The pedal is just a little but soft so I wanna do a good bleed. I ended up getting help from a co workers sister so I don't think she got the whole concept, haha.

I thought you were wrenching over the 3 day weekend? If not I am game for whatever. I can do Friday after work no problem. I can help you with whatever too. I am a decent mechanic so let me know what you need help with!!!

Wrenching over the entire week. If you want to take care of things that weekend, let me know.

I have to pull and paint the rear axle and I like to get 24 hours on each coat. Going to be flurries of activity followed by lulls for the week. Right now it is looking like:

Mon, Oct 13th - pull, sand and primer axle
Tue, Oct 14th - 1st coat in the AM. S/C unit in the PM.
Wed, Oct 15th - 2nd coat in the AM.
    Thu, Oct 16th - 3rd coat maybe
Fri, Oct 17th - Reinstall axle (relocation plates, extended brake line, OME shackles)
    Sat, Oct 18th - 7th Inj kit @ SGT Taco's.

Somewhere in there I'm probably redoing the body mounts and putting in linear clutch return spring but I haven't gotten that far in the planning.

That's a big schedule! Well I am game to come over on the Monday wrench day or whatever you guys decide. Then if you need help Friday, I can come help you wrestle that pig in there and help with whatever you may need. I should be off work by 3:00.

I also noticed last time you guys did one of these you needed a jack. Let me know if you need any specific tools, I got a bunch of random stuff.

Yeah, I like to take time off so I can go at a relaxed pace to get stuff done. Reminds me, I need to air up the tires on my bike and make sure it is ready for transporting me.

Maybe Cloudy? or SGT Taco. ;)

Seems to me the only real dangerous time is putting that bushing, washer and nut back on top, as you have your face/head and body right up in there. When lowering/decompressing initially you can be safely to the side. Then again, if your jack can't take just that force, disastrous things can happen anyway on some other job. I've been toying with this idea for awhile. The $$$ saved (having a shop swap the shock out) can be used elsewhere, so it just boils down to risk aversion :)

Those spring compressors from AutoZone and such are pretty sketchy - at least look like they are. I'd have more faith in my floor jack than some tool any grease monkey has borrowed and abused, but that's just me ;)

I'm not a big fan and prefer taking it to a shop to be done. Desert Rat did mine for $40 a coil. They are setup for and used to handling the energy stored in these springs. Some folks have no issue doing it. Really, no worse than jacking up a car with the added excitement of the possibilit of a spring popping loose.

WhiteToyTaco did his with the Autozone rented spring compressors. This was for a pair of OME 881s that I sold him. He was adamant he would never do it that way again.

I have used the spring compressors before on lighter weight coils. I really do not like to use them and that was for some 300lb coils do not want to try that on 600lbs ones.

yea i guess i could try desert rat. 80 bucks is not that bad. Humm i wounder what 4wheel parts would charge

Iv installed springs both with spring compressors and using the on the vehicle method. Doing it on the truck is really easy. Let me know if you need a hand.
