I had my 07 Tacoma V-6 TRD Off Road Automatic Transmission in to the dealer for a transmission drain and fill. Shortly afterwards after a hard brake because a deer ran out in front of me, the truck slipped out of gear and then slammed back into gear. I took it back and told the dealer something was wrong. They checked the fluid again and told me it was fine and at the correct level. Then a few weeks later I took a hard right turn and it slipped out of and then slammed back into gear again. I took it back third time and now they tell me I will need to wait 3-4 hours while the trans cools down to the right temperature in order to check the level. Mind you this is the first time I even heard about the trans needing to cool down first as the first 2 appointments only took 1-2 hours. They then told me it was a full quart low. All of this happened over 8 weeks and I also pulled a 3500 pound boat with it about a total of 350 miles on several occasions in very hilly areas.
Did I damage my transmission in any way as I plan to keep for several more years?
    Thank you for your help!

2007, does your truck have a ATF dipstick to check the fluid level?

I don't know how a dealer could mess up a drain and fill, but ya never know...

I do have full documentation. The last service advisor documented everything on my last receipt, nice guy. So how would you suggest I proceed, ask for a lifetime transmission warranty?
As stated above there is no dipstick and the only way to check is for the fluid to get to a certain temp and then hook up a computer to it, the first 2 times they didn't let it cool down because I wasn't there long enough. The last time it took 4 hours with 2 fans blowing on it to get it to cool down to the right temp.

You don't need a computer to check the fluid level.
