Hi everyone - I just did a quick search and couldn't find any info, so I do apologize if this question has already been asked.

I have a 2014 double-cab longbed Taco and I'm looking for a product to protect the top edge of my tailgate. I recently added an ARE topper and the plastic strip along the bottom has scratched the tailgate down to the metal in just 2 weeks.

    I found a universal strip:

    http://www.amazon.com/Lund-30000-Ga...pell&keywords=pickup+tailgate+protection+lund

But the reviews were pretty bad.

Essentially, I'm looking for something like this:

    http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/p/...rabber&utm_campaign=value3&utm_content=value4

    But for a 2014 model.

I seem to be striking out online and even at the dealership.

Has anybody found one for a newer model Tacoma?

    Thanks for the help!

The KBvoodoo tailgate cap is awesome and will bump it out just enough so your lower seal on the rear window
of the cap will not "burn in" the line across your tailgate.
It's quality made and easy to change out.
I do not have a shell but know other members here who do (OZ) and he could probably vouch for its effectiveness with a topper.
I did notice a difference changing out my stock tailgate cap with my tonneau cover.
The stock oem tailgate cap is junk.

KB Voodoo's tailgate cap is just the best... The fit and finish are top notch. I have a hard topper (Undercover LUX) and it fits like a charm...couldn't ask for a better product.

When I popped my stock cap off, I was embarrassed it was ever on my truck.

I too am offering a few different products, one of which you're asking for. I should have them in stock and for sale within 2 weeks. Offering aluminum and steel, both powder coated texture black.

Finalizing prices now but as it sits, I should be a little lower than the competition.

If you can't wait, go with KB Voodoo. I like his very much and am offering a similar design, minus the final bend so mine will match the tailgate curve.

Working on setting up an Amazon account as well as creating a website.

The tailgates on these trucks are crap. one dent in it and it seems so flimsy now.

This is because Toyota is the only company that makes their tailgates with no steel skin behind the plastic bed protector. You look at any truck on the road, pull of the plastic bed liner, and it is steel behind it, not open into the inside of the tailgate. They did it to save cost and weight.

Weathertech floor liners moded to hold OEM floor mats, weathertech vent visors, Toyota bed mat, LEER 100XL cap, hood gasket mod to stop whistling.
I did it the easy way.... I removed my tailgate top cap after marking where the cap door seal hit the tailgate, I applied heavy 2" rubber tape, it's just like electrical tape, then I replaced the top tailgate cap. I did this on my 2006, 2013, and my 2014 and it not only lasted forever, but you can't see it with the cap door closed and it saved my paint.

I learned how to do this AFTER the LEER 100R cap door rubbed clear through my tailgate paint.

    ^ interesting

after over 4 years with my Leer 100RCC ( same door as the 100R ) I had zero damage to my tailgate paint when I removed the OEM plastic cap to install my KB Voodoo cap
