    It's been 5 days since I started the thread and it takes time. I'm designing parts when I get home from work, working out lead times, design and cost with vendor, shipping, etc. I know how people are, they want it now. Maybe I should've waited until I could show pictures of final product but I was trying to get ideas hashed out before ordering a design as to not waste money. I do have parts ordered now, they'll be here shortly and I'll get them installed and pictures uploaded. My biggest pet peave is designs with no direction. I deal with it at my job on my projects constantly because my boss is all about the sale and doesn't care if the design is poor. Get the sale, fix it later at a discount is his mindset. I can't stand it. Sorry for the delay but like I said, pics will be very soon.

    Good idea, extra space, very secure but for almost $200 for just one box is too expensive imo. But understanding what goes into making it I know why it's almost $200. Honestly though, I don't know what I'd ever keep in that box that would be worth an investment like that. In my current boxes are some ratchet straps, d ring, jumper cables, wire ties and duct tape. So just a simple steel door with a lock is plenty. If someone stole that stuff, it would be less than a $50 loss. For it to happen four times to get my money back from the steel box is unlikely. I'm sure others store items that are more expensive but stuff with that high of a value, they stay in the cab of my truck.

    Ah yes, I have considered. Although that takes away towing capability. And I like the skid idea too! I combination of all three would be perfect hint hint :rolleyes:

    As Lord Helmet has said, SpareBumper does have a tow model. And unless you are towing all the time, you can use the non-tow model when you are not towing.

    Exactly. You obviously won't use it when towing anything with significant weight. I see it's rated to tow 6000 lbs, but on our trucks that's not a weight or pull with a weight distribution tongue. Besides, it takes all of 30 seconds to pop it out.

    I think that's a terrible idea. It would only save you from a very minor impact. Anything else it's sticking out and thus making the entire load of being rear ended go into your frame. I'd rather my tailgate and bumper absorb some of the impact have a straight frame.

    How does it differ from a ball? Or even your hitch receiver once a car hits that?

    The frames going to get hit no matter what in any sizeable impact. This absorbs most of the shock and protects the passengers as well as leaving minimal damage to the frame.

    Correct me if im wrong, but wouldnt the bumper absorbing the impact only be useful if you didn't have a towing package or something else connected to your frame sticking out further than the bumper?
