There is a couple running an STS setup, and it's pretty impressive. Also I think superwerty runs a TRD blower and is under 10 seconds in the 1/4 mile.

I don't really know much about turbo setups but if you want your brain to explode on them, check this thread out.

It says 12.7's on the link you posted.

12.7 is fast, but a LONG way from 10 seconds.

To drop a second in the 1/4 gets exponentially harder the lower you get. He would probably need another 400hp, slicks and massive weight reduction to hit 10's from where he is.

I'm saying those vids are 3 years old, he's changed it up quite a bit. It was a 1 minute search. In any case it's impressive.

i bet u win that bet. he keeps running in to hiccups but when he gets all the kinks worked out he'll be pushing right around 800whp with 12 psi if i remeber correctly. now his motor and our motors are not exactly the same. his is stroke to a 4.3 and sleeved and about fully forged. this is a stock motor set up that pushes 400 wtq http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/performance-tuning/208747-best-low-end-torque-mod.html. eventually i plan on making a similar set up, but will most likely run e-85 (both b/c its much cheaper than premium, despite the hit u take on mpg i think ill still come out ahead, and about 105 octane)

i think he sold all his stuff. after that record setting setup, he blew his motor up but when he got another one he had a nasty urd blower setup, but his home track shut down and he lost interest i guess

The I-5 is as you know the same Atlas engine family as the 4.2 in the Trailblazer, which I have. The 4.2 has given me no problems in 11 years and 145,000 miles, but clearly they're not all as reliable as this one. I have always liked inline engines though. I hope the one I have holds up a while.

That's just strange about replacing all of those bulbs, and hard to explain. Obviously they are not made by GM. I don't think I have ever replaced any bulb in the Trailblazer.

It's done for ease of installation. However there's now a long pipe going from the turbo to the intercooler (then going to the throttle body), so throttle response isn't as good as a conventionally-mounted turbo. For dragstrip runs where you can brake-torque to spool up the turbo, this isn't a drawback.

It's supposed to become a "common" tranny used in most of Chevy's rear-drive platforms from the Camaro to the Silverado. Hopefully GM still knows how to design a good auto tranny and it won't have the driveability problems of the Cherokee's 9-speed.

Most likely GM will do what Ram did - implement a very short 1st gear and heighten the axle ratio to something like 3.10, for fuel efficiency at cruise.

A bit off topic but has anyone else heard about Ford modifying there Duratorq 3.2 L from the international Ford Ranger for emissions standards in North America? Apparently that engine is going in there north american version of the Transit Connect vans rebranded as a Powerstroke engine. The power rating is somewhere around 200 HP and 350 ft-lb of torque. A little birdie I know hinted that it could find it's way into the F150 to get some incredible mpg numbers to meet CAFE requirements early and compete against the Ecodiesel option in the Ram. I wonder what that'll do to the market for mid sized trucks like Colorado's and Tacoma's...

The sad part about this is GM used to make 2 different V-6s; a Chevy & a Buick. The Chevy was pretty much "meh" but the Buick was terrific (I had one in Olds Cutlass and it was almost bullet-proof).

Here's the Wiki page about the Buick V-6: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buick_V6_engine

My point is that if one of the big selling features of this Colorado will be the diesel models mpg's, other manufacturers putting similar sized diesel engines into there full sized trucks could put a bit of a damper on those mid size sales.
