    Dear Mr. Fuller,

Thank you for contacting Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc.

As we had previously indicated though your SoutheastToyota factory representative, your vehicle is out of warranty, there are no known issues or current recalls relating to frame rust for your 2006 Tacoma, and we would be unwilling to offer you any compensation for any repairs to the vehicle. While we can understand your dissatisfaction with this decision, it does represent Toyota's final position in this matter.

We again apologize for the situation you encountered with your 2006 Tacoma, and we are sorry for any inconvenience or expense you may incur.

Your email has been documented at our NationalHeadquarters under file #1409161201.

    Sincerely,

    Roy G.

    Hi,

I'm trying to get some help with my 2006 Tacoma frame rust issue. My truck was purchased new at Crestmont Toyota in New Jersey. It was in New Jersey up until 2012. The truck is now located in Charleston, SC. I've had the dealer here look at it. The Southeast rep said there's nothing they can do for me. The whole frame looks bad. The attached picture is of the driver side catalytic converter area.

    Basically a big f#%k you!!!!!!!!!!

Don't get discouraged by their reply. I had the same reply from Toyota Corp when I called them. It took the dealer calling on my behalf to get the approval. I have an 05 and just got it back today with a new frame. It took about 4 months to get the parts and another 2 weeks to do the job. It's a slow process, but definitely worth the wait. Have you taken it to a dealer for an inspection?

So, yeah... The techs at the dealership I'm working with said straight to my face that they've almost got it down to a day and a half for the frame swap.

I'm not sure whether to be impressed or concerned!

    Time will tell, I guess...

2005 Taco, double cab 4x4. Summer of 2013 the cross member holding my spare tire gave way and the tire tumbled into the road while I was driving. In the late winter (thereabouts) of this year I brought my truck to the dealer who photographed the perforation and sent it to corporate, told me they thought a recall was coming because new frames were being warehoused, and suggested I check back in in a couple of weeks. Nothing came of it. Soon after, my skid plate came down. Heard the recall rumor in early October and brought my truck back to the dealer. They again photographed the frame perforation, sent it to corporate, declared my truck unsafe to drive, impounded it, and put me in a rental for what they said should be six to eight weeks. I complained to corporate, got a call back from a customer rep who offered me nothing except to say that my wait for a new frame would be more like three to four months. I proposed a fair credit towards a new Toyota. Everyone wins. Toyota spends less than $12-14K on the new frame plus $1000 per month for my rental. I buy a new Taco and remain a loyal customer. No dice. So now I'm driving a Dodge Ram from Mississippi: no winter tires, no four-wheel drive, no place to put the dog in a vehicle for which I will be liable for any damage. Winter's coming and this truck won't make it up or down my Berkshire Hills country driveway.

There's supposed to be a warranty like the 1st gens for this. It's common on the early 2nd gens. Toyota will take care of you, they have other people on TW

    You should have waited.
I have a new frame under my 2001 and it's like having a new truck without the payments.
    Treated very nicely by Toyota.

I just got my 05 back 2 weeks ago after having the frame replaced. I had the same problem dealing with Toyota Corp as well. Corporate told me that my truck wasn't covered by the recall even though my truck had the same frame rust as those covered by the recall. Fortunately, the dealer I took it to had better luck dealing with corporate. Toyota agreed to replace the frame and cover the entire cost. They did warn me that it would take a long time to get all the parts and it did take 4 months to get everything. All in all, it's totally worth the wait.

Got a call from the dealer today. They took pics and are in the process of ordering a new frame and assorted hardware to replace my frame. Yes I live in the rust-belt (Pittsburgh) So TOYO is going to fix me up and give me a rental to drive while mines in the shop. I'll update as I get any more news.

Anyone have info on warranty of frame after treament of frame or replacement? Not too enthused about treament. Truck will be 7 years old soon and since there is a problem there will be a problem even if they slop some stuff on it. Rust starts internally on the frame. Went through this with 99 - beautiful white TRD access cab 65k. Crushed it and bought another toyota truck. Deja Vu? Great PR for quality. Absolute BS.

Took my truck in on friday for gas pedal, seat belt, frame & springs recall.
I would not let them cut my pedal, belts were ok,springs are not being done yet, ordering new frame. Should take 3 weeks to arrive, then 3 days to swap.
Truck is '07 with 50k & always garaged.

11 week wait, dropped off my truck today for the new frame. Not successful yet, but hopefully it will be in a few days. Patients in your friend, just think about that shiny new frame you will have.

I brought my truck into the dealer Dec 2, 2014 for frame inspection. They got back to me a day or two later and said its condition warrants a new frame. The leaf springs will also be replaced under that recall. They said it will be "a long time" before it's replaced... I asked what that meant... "two weeks? two months? two years??" They said "probably some time in the Spring." So now the wait.

I have an appointment next Wednesday to get my frame inspected. I've replaced both gas tank straps, both rear leaf springs, and tranny cooler lines in the front. I'd like to know if anyone else on here actually saw holes in their frame, or just surface rust. I've looked at the frame numerous times because I work on it myself, and the frame is peeling away! It is in bad shape, and the local shop has said the frame is weak. I'm just worried that the local dealer will spray it and not replace it, which won't help the fact that it's weak.
