Similar, yea.. It's just hard to edit a low lit camera phone taken photo into more of an HDR looking photo without it starting to get really grainy. It would probably look better if you had the full res photo instead of the cut down image. Thanks.

Hey guys, here are a few more pics: the first three were from the 2013 summer, shot with a point and shoot Canon, don't remember the exact model.

This one looks a bit washed out but I thought it still came out pretty good.

This one was taken with my current Canon: but for all of the following pictures I really don't remember the settings they were on. Still trying to remember them.

I blacked out the license plate on this one because I thought it was distracting.

Hey the pictures look much better in their original size! They don't look anywhere near as good and detailed on here. : /

You should be at 3x already. Go to 2x at the year'ish mark. I was just talking to a buddy with an English Bulldog about the Blue Buffalo food. He just switched a couple weeks ago and boy, huge change in his coat in just the past few weeks. Seems like a great diet!

Lots of pics. I just found Riley's "baby ball", the one I took a few pics of him growing up. I need to repeat a few of those pictures.

That's a good looking dog! Feeding him 3x a day is probably a good deal too?

On a second note, I will be selling a 17-40L real soon if anybody is interested?

There are a ton of Riley pics in "Let's see your dogs".

Not to totally hijack the thread but the reason I've heard that 3x is good is that it keeps the portions smaller and a more constant stream of nutrition for a growing puppy. Riley weighs in at 105 these days. His recommended feeding is 4c/day. His puppy feeding was ~5-1/2c a day (based on weight). I still feed twice a day although he sometimes does not eat twice a day (defective lab maybe? :) ). The smaller amounts move through the system a little better and as he's a big dog, I worry about gastric torsion too. Smaller portions mitigate that too (he can go from snoozing to playing hard quickly). Anyway, seems to work for me.

Pete I enjoy seeing pics of the pup as he grows. And Riley, and... LOL.

Another vote for a pup and 3 smaller feedings if possible. Ian is right and stomach torsion is a huge concern with hunting dogs, most people I know normally only give them 1 cup in the morning and then only if you aren't going to hunt for a couple of hours yet.

There are many good dog food choices out there today, I just picked up a bag of Nutirsource Performance for the ES and Seafood Select for the old boy. When I open the Seafood Select the smell is so good I am damned near tempted to eat it myself

Been hunting ruff grouse on the North Shore of Lake Superior, the new ES has a GPS collar and e-collar all in one. Was shocked to find out when I walk 8 or so miles a day he is covering ~40 miles. Keeping weight on is important this time of year. But most of us feel you should be able to see a few ribs, Upland Journal has a good thread right now and the general thought is that most dogs are overweight, hunting or otherwise. Without the extra weight they certainly cover a lot more ground. But can go to an extreme with it and it is a fine line IMO.

Someday I would love to own the Pentax 3 princess, FA limited prime lenses in 31mm, 43mm, and 77mm. I do have a 55mm f1.4 Weather Resistant that costs as much as a limited. Been going back and forth in the field and woods between it and the kit DA 18-135mm F3.5-5.6 lens. Each seems to have an advantage, it depends of course. I would love to be able to carry my larger prime lens or better zooms but they are just too large for carry while hunting. Being so far North light is often lacking and that really effects the overall shot with the zoom. With enough light it can occasionally make me pleased. The North Shore of Lake Superior at 48mm
    [IMG]

Landscapes are hard for me and I'm still learning, but enjoy all of it a lot.

Speaking of dogs... :) Mushers normally feed 50/50 protein and fat. They will not pass a road kill and beaver carcasses from trappers are one of the best with all the fat on the tail. Kit 18-135 lens again, it warmed up into the teens below zero when I took this from the sled
    [IMG]

Shot this fatty through the windsheild of the truck a couple of weeks ago. This beaver is pushing close to a #1 Blanket in size.

Again with 18-135, this was at 115mm. Headed for SD for 2 weeks on Saturday. I'm just taking all of the lenses LOL. I'm starting to think for me a good all around prime is in the ~100mm range and will have a better feel for it after a couple of weeks pheasant hunting on the prairie.

Wow Mike! That's pretty! Especially the musher's perspective. Are you near Ely?

Looks like my new 7D II will be here on Monday! I'm so stoked, probably the most excited I've been for a newly released camera :D

Thanks Pete and I love how you use the flash often for enhanced details and highlights. You have taught me a lot, and I thank you, still experimenting but it has helped me a lot so far.

Ian I actually live in SE Mn. near Wi. but head straight to the North Shore every chance I get especially in the fall and winter. I know Lake and Cook counties better than most. Ely is the normal jumping off point into the BWCA Wilderness Area, I'm usually 20-100 miles East of there between Lake Superior and the Canadian border. Ely is home to one of the best vet clinics I know and they are on my cell phone speed dial. One of those calls you hope that you don't have to make but if you do glad to have it. There is a husband and wife team there that has some of the best sled dogs and breeding programs in the world. Mushers are a very tight and close knit community.

Marc totally agree! Waiting to see how things turn out at Mayo with convergence but it is looking like I can move anywhere I want and work from home as long as I'm willing to travel from time to time. Will know by Spring but this winter I'm going to start working on getting the house ready for sale. I'm thinking someplace around Grand Marais is where I would like to land. My Unit Head mentioned that I could move South or West like most normal people do instead LOL. I do like the South and West, lived in both and miss things at each. But the North Shore calls me the strongest of all.

Pretty happy with this one for a smart phone image.

Looking at Mt. Adams from Mt Jefferson. Just an LG G2. Didn't haul the Rebel up for that trip.

    True.

It's a hike I do often enough where I don't bother bringing much of anything with me. You start at 3000 ft so it's relatively quick to get to the top.

If I plan on going over other mountains at the same time, I certainly take a lot and make a day of it, but I didn't that day.

Here's another great spot. Little overexposed, but that trail is a little nerve-wracking so photos aren't the priority.

Glad I took the camera to work this week. Sunset on the northern Colorado grasslands.
