Not trying to sell you on one just providing information for the thread in general.

*Note that Viking no longer makes that fairlead in an offset (you need the offset to properly fit the ARB without modification) I asked some time ago and the thread you quoted is from 2012. I simply point this out for anyone else researching this type of fairlead on TW.

Another thing to note is that as tested a 1.5" offset hawse fairlead in an ARB bumper allows up to 40 degrees of angle pull. Winch physics suggest that the larger the angle pull the less full power function you have. Anything over a 15 degree pull is less then 50% of the total winch pulling capacity. I need to find that link that lists all of this. I will edit later. My point is at 1.5"s you are at a the max width in AL that is still decently priced.

I was personally fine with my Derlin rollers until I pinched my syn line. Hence my search for the correct hawse lead that does not cost a fortune.

Since we're back on the topic of winches. No winch here yet but there will be soon.
Mocking up the '14 4RUNNER hidden winch mount for the factory bumper. Full plate bumper will be next.

    LOL this is getting good!

"Yes, I'm sure Pelfreybilt is heavily advertising for winches that have no markup. Actually, since you mentioned they are such great people, I'm sure they are taking a loss on them. Reminder: That was sarcasm"

Heavily advertising? Holy$h!t you don't know anything about the interwebs or advertising.

There is a thread, couple posts in relevant threads and post on the Tacoma World Facebook.

I am not saying they aren't making any money, but there isn't some crazy profit margin to brag about. I know they aren't taking advantage of people

My cost on a VR10,000s is $755 + $13 to get it to me + Shipping (66 lbs with my discount would be about $35). They Sell everywhere for $829.99.

Even if they only paid $755 delivered that is a 10% Margin. With shipping just to the customer you are looking at a 4.7% margin. You can't live on just that. So yeah there isn't a big margin.

I'll pm you my costs if you don't believe me. No one is pulling decent margins on anything in the aftermarket 4x4 retail unless 1) You manufacture it yourself 2) You buy big and direct.

"A perfect example? Well, I have had 7 years to grow my fabrication skills but It still isn't a bad bumper... Show me something made from Pelfreybilt 7 years ago....?"

I don't need to back up the skills behind Pelfreybilt, their products speak for themselves. Pelfreybilt started 2 years ago, and I guarantee more people have heard of them than your business. Want to know how I know that?... (see below poopy pants)

YES. YES. 10 years in Business. I am the sole proprietor. Nobody handed me jack shit. Ground up. EAT YOUR HEART OUT: Oh yeah and I am 30...been in business for myself since I was 20...

Congratulations! That is an accomplishment, especially with your attitude. I am surprised you aren't a little more sympathetic. You of all people should understand the struggle.

Although I have some irony for you. (This is where you should be looking from above)

10 years in business and google... You know that gigantic search engine that reads everything on the internet... They do not know you exist. Or if they do you must be on page three for your own name. That is literally the single most easy thing to rank for. I cannot even find your business and I specialize in SEO, Keyword research, and content marketing. Do you have a website? Honestly, you really need to get on that. Any 12 year old could build you one in 24 hours, for under $200. It will suck, but damn it's better than nothing. Luckily you are too busy.... Maybe I will do it just so every time someone googles your company I will have the first say in what they see. How does that sound?

"Go take a look at the threads I've started and get back at me, BRO..."

Psh yeah I would rather put my head in through plate glass window. Thanks though.

"Sorry BRO, I'm too busy for hugs...maybe when I've been in Business for ANOTHER decade we can hug it out..."

^ This guy is so successful and great and busy and awesome.

LMFAO Is anyone else having as much fun in this thread as I am?

"And for the record- despite being a certified welder, (all position, unlimited thickness, in a variety of processes) I still choose All-Pro products to rock on my taco..."

LOL Thank you for confirming that you are a clown.

I have the thinner Viking fairlead, but I heard they haven't been making them. My friend has the thick one on order for nearly a year.

I have been looking at that one, the Smitty X20 and the Superwinch Tigershark 9500, all nearly the same price, ~$500. I think I will be going for the Superwinch, only 13 lbs heavier (59#), and reviews/reliability seem to be a little better than the Smittys.

I'd be concerned with not having a manual override for the clutch in the event shit went south. I'd also prefer not to have electronic windows and 4wd in my truck but alas :(

Does anyone know where I can get a good deal on a winch right now?

.... Actually mine is just fine and I can't believe that I'm responding to this from 6700' on Porcupine Rim. But yeah. Priceless.

Love the truck man. Off topic do you have a build thread or... who makes that roof rack?

Thanks much. It's a Front Runner Slimline II. Love it. Check their site out. Their customer service is great and products are solid.
When looking at them I couldn't get over the look on ARB's Brownie build.
Steve at FR is a great guy. Thanks again.
