Just to be certain, Your toprack will bolt up to Yakima tracks correct? I'm planning on throwing a toprack on my ARE shell and want to be sure I'm getting the correct tracks.

Does make sense. I have an axe and shovel in my bed held with fist grips and they do sometimes twist or slide a little. If you google shovel mount rack and even google image it should give you some more ideas. That is correct. Just need to know the width between the tacks when you order to get the right width of crossbars.

 

Cool so ill just need to get my tracks mounted on prior to ordering.

 

Or order the ideal width of rack that will match the cab and then have them install the tracks to match.

 

this is a common failure with Quick fists, MSO has theirs on top of the rack so the shovel sits flat and doesn't twist. One option if you have a short shovel with the end handle is to mount it like I did on my trailer. No twisting allowed this way.

Zach, just curious, what are the measurements with your 30" light bar, from the edge of the deflector near the light to that outside edge where it slops down?

 

I know there aren't too many photos of the long bed cab rac out there so I finally got a few pictures of the rack with the new basket add on in case anyone wanted to see it. Very impressed with Zach's product and would highly recommend it to anyone. Extremely modular and solid. I'll have some more photos up soon of it with some stuff mounted to it.

 

What is the point of having the rack higher on only one end?

 

My guess is to keep things from sliding, or to create a slightly raised secondary surface for storing objects above longer items?

 

Which cross bars are these? It looks like there are 2 t-slots on top, 2 on bottom and 1 on each end. Is that correct? I may have to order some of those.

^^^^^^ I got an email from TSLOTS a couple days ago saying that various profiles will now be available in black anodized. Unfortunately most of them are larger. 1.5" x 3", 3" x 3", etc. Nothing applicable to these racks really other than what I already offer.

 

Which cross bars do you have? Can you run a RTT on this rack?

 

I have had my RTT on both my cabrac and toprac using both types of crossbars. With the heavier crossbars I have always used 6 but have tried both 6 and 12 bar arrangements with the standard crossbars. The weight is so dispersed across different surfaces that I was never able to tell any differences.

 

Yeah, I don't get it. I think the 1575 that I use for standard bars is a less popular extrusion for the majority of applications so it will unfortunately be one of the last ones they offer with anodization.

I love this rack. I have watched a couple of vids on installing various racks. I'm a little paranoid about screwing up the rubber strip. How do you guys recommend marking the holes to drill?
