Okay, gotta replace the timing belt on my truck with now 117k miles. Yea I know I have stretched it out. Looking at those kits above they state with oil cooler. Since I have the 5-speed I don't have the oil cooler.

I've contacted the seller to inquire which kit they have specific for my needs. Thanks for the tips presented above.

    There's the Taco water pump.

See that tube coming out of the right? That is the oil cooler line. I read somewhere that almost all of the Gen 1 trucks have the oil cooler.

Look on your truck now. That tube comes out the right side of the water pump and has a hose attached to it.. it will be right next to where the lower radiator hose meets the water pump.

Yes I have that, thank you very much. This must be a reverse flow radiator. I'm ordering my parts kit.

I've never before replaced the belt on a Tacoma but did a V6 Honda a couple years ago. Had to do some work through the wheel well. Yikes! Hopefully this one will be easier.

Okay I have it all apart now and just about ready to reassemble. The new water pump came with a flat gasket. Am I to use sealant on this gasket or torque to 14 lbs with it dry?

You probably already did it, but I think just dry. My gasket was slightly different than that and I just used the new gasket.

I can't seem to get the crank pulley off. Got the bolt off, but the pulley just won't budge. Books says it should pull off. Or use two prybars/screwdrivers and wedge it out. But I can't get two screwdrivers in there. It's a plastic cover behind it and nothing to wedge against. I tried a pry bar wedged against the ac bracket as well as the lower crossmember and tapping on the pulley with a hammer and it still won't budge. And it says a puller should not be needed. Then it says not to use a jaw type puller. how the he'll do I get this thing off!? Ugh.

use the pulley puller with the three finger slots in it seen here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/13pc-Heavy-...1636653675&pt=Motors_Automotive_Tools&vxp=mtr

and you run 4 bolts through the 3 fingers and tail into the crank pulley so it supports evenly, then turn the center bolt and as you tighten it presses in against the crank bolt (so you don't mess up the threads) and it pushes outward on the fingers evenly sliding the pulley off. to do this you screw the center bolt back on but only about a half to3/4 way on and if it bottoms out and the pulley still wont come off then unscrew it more and repeat

Ok so I went ahead and turned he motor to line it up at tdc before I removed the belt. And it seems it must've jumped or something cuz it's not lining up. Turned it multiple multiple times. The belt is trashed and frayed to he'll but still on. So what do I do now?
Do I have to remove the spark plug and check it for tdc and also the crank sprocket lined up? Or just align the crank sprocket?

After that do I just turn the *cam* pulleys on each side to line those up after aligning tdc and removing the belt? Or do I have to do this under the valve covers?
Sorry for all the noob questions. Thought this was gonna be fairly easy...
