Found out I have a bad drivers side wheel bearing shot at 110K; original bearings. Stealership wanted $750+tax+misc hardware. That was for the entire assembly, including outer hub and inner bearings. Les Schwab quoted $320 parts and labor to replace the entire assembly. They did need a few days to locate some special spanner wrench to take it apart, though. Why the major difference in price? Some say a different shop rate, however the dealership parts price is double. Les Schwab says the parts are OE replacements. Hmmm, I wonder.

Even if you have someone install them. That said they are pretty easy to change!

Don't be shocked that you lost a bearing at 110k. I lost one at 40k and one at 99k on my 2006, pretty common.

This begs the question is there anything we can do to make these last longer?

Is this normal for them to go out so early? Im at 120k miles and mine are still good (wheel spacers for last 7k miles). Plus my last t100 was at 160k and never had any problems with them..

Well, got my truck back today after having the front left wheel bearing replaced along with new brake pads and calipers. $616 total. They had to get a special spanner wrench(s) to do the bearing and broke 2 wrenches in the process! Glad I didn't attempt it. Thanks all for the input.

I didn't need a special wrench when I replaced mine. I did buy a 20-ton shop press for this occasion, but I just needed an excuse to buy one.
