My bed is either full (work stuff or camping stuff) or empty... the couple times when there is just a shovel or a single ice box there, I use bungees.

I have not noticed any leaks but our annual rain is less than 1/2 inch. Have not noticed any water after automatic car wash.

Mine has never leaked. Even after spraying at a car wash I've never seen water make it into the bed. They have gaskets and seal quite well. I didn't buy my truck new, but the notes say the tonneau, tube steps, etc. were all installed at the time of purchase. So, it's going on 4 years now with no leaks and is still in nice shape.

As for the bed mat, I plan on eventually buying one myself based on all the great things I've heard here. Just haven't gotten around to it and don't use the bed much in the winter.

By the way, read David K's thread here: http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2n...-controls-trac-auto-lsd-trac-rear-locker.html

You have an Off Road, so you have A-Trac and a rear differential locker. You will be hard pressed to get that truck stuck. Many of the people I know with TRD Off Roads don't even know what that "RR Diff Lock" button does, never mind A-Trac.

If your going to want easy access to the bed get a flip or roll up soft, if not as much get a hard obviously the hard are more secure. You'll want a locking tailgate with soft and a bed mat is your best option for keeping things from sliding around. I had a soft roll up but added a kid so the dog had to go in back, now i roll a bestop softopper in the summer and a hard shell in the winter both craigslist finds and together less than a new of either!!

    Welcome!!

    Thanks, David! :)

Drink, here's what I want, water proof and easy access to the bed, without having to open the tailgate and unlatch things. I want it to lock and be secure. Every time I think we found one I see another and get confused. I wonder if the flip back ones would leak where they fold back?
You guys have probably answered my questions 100 times but I'll tell you I'm confused. Thank you for being patient with me.

No leaks on my bak flip hinge area! Easier to access bed by opening tail gate then fold back as many as needed.

Thanks sarge. And you have to open the tail gate to open the bak flip, right?

    Welcome to the forums!

I cant remember what tonneau I put on mine and am trying to see if I have pictures. It folds in 3rds and I think its an access. It mounts on the bed rails super easy and comes off in seconds. It has some seals all around it to prevent water from getting in but it can only stop so much, I know theres been a few times its really poured here and some water has gotten in and like wise going through some deep water off road the mud got in. What do you intend to keep in the bed? If you're keeping things in there that need to stay dry Id go for a hard top one. Have you guys considered a camper shell or is that too much?
