I really do need one. I have found mud in my airbox right before the filter. Been in some deep puddles too. But if I can get my hands on that softtopper, i'll take the softtopper! cant pass up good deals

after this weekend and seeing all of Jasons recoveries, the winch is moving up on the list to one of the top priorities

 

Well shoot, I did a little research and found that superchargers and Snorkels don't really play well...I'd really like to relocated the inner fender intake to somewhere that's not gonna suck water if I go through some puddles lol.

 

make a splash guard for your fender liner.

 

I threw a prefilter on mine as a temporary fix

 

Well, who's the guy that works at Tesoro here as well? He can attest, North gate floods when it's raining, I finally found thst out coming in to work the other day, was a good 1 1/2' -2' of water for a couple hundred feet, and even going at like 10 mph I was seeing alot of water splashing up and kept waiting for everything to go dark and die lol. Obviously I probably should have just turned around and been 15 minutes late going all the way around to the other gate, but I wanted to experience the flood myself lol.

But anyhow, I'm almost tempted to try to get a snorkel made thst has a very large OD and use the largest OD tubing I can find just to plumb back to the intake filter box...I don't think I'll ever be fully submerging, I just reeeaalllyyy don't want to wreck an engine

 

Interesting! I like that idea combined with some solid inner fenders (custom made for glass, ugh)

 

Box rocket made a pretty cool design on his first gen. It allows water that has gone into the tube drain out.

I don't know about you but when I see a puddle, its HAMMERDOWN Time!! That and my kid loves it too! haha

 

Yea I was trying to think of some way to make a drain in the box...I dunno, more research is needed lol.

Hey I usually do to lol, but alot of the puddles here are like over a foot deep and hitting those over 30 MPH means I get hit with a tidal wave and then I'm like shit shit shit no fender liners, WTF JEFF

 

I think it should work. I zip tied and put a big hose clamp around it too. Didn't get to try it in the heavy rain we had though as I just got my 4Runner up and running 2 nights ago.

 

Haha I used to do that shit in my '03 eclipse...there's a was a big spot that turned into a big pond on base, but it was like the only way to get to the mini mart, used to just slam through there..ended up floating a few feet across it one time, engine started hiccuping so I just pinned it and start racing around thinking I should burn off all the water and not let it die or it would never turn back on.

 

I'll have to give that a shot and see how it works. Hopefully with a secondary bag over the intake hole plus some good quality fender liners, I can at least keep the vast majority of water out.

That is a good idea! I think I'd just put a mesh screen over the inlet though, not that drain line cover.

I think I'd rather try for curved tubing though to try to minimize obstruction and any turns. Where can I get 3" custom curved tubing lol

I like it. Except I'd do that with molded plastic tubing and not duct LOL. Aesthetically and aerodynamically it would be better IMO.
