    Can afford and need tires...

    Can't afford and need 4x4...

I guess obvious choice is tires at the moment.

On a related note. On my drive from Littleton to Boulder County last night during the storm, I cannot even begin to tell you how many vehicles I saw on the road with an absolute piss poor excuse for tires and/or adequacy.

There was a mid-80s Mustang convertible (the LX model, not GT) going less than 10 miles per hour on Highway 36. Rear end sliding out most of the time.

I don't get it. How do you not prepare yourself for it. And why put others in danger?

I have decent traction control, just the all season/touring tires that have worked the last two season....well, they aren't cutting it. And just so happens that the 30k mileage limit is about right now...

A small handful of select mods.
You should get some Blizzaks and then swap them out in the spring with your other tires. Initially the up front cost is more but with 2 sets of tires they tend to last longer.

Blizzaks are amazing snow tires. But if you decide to go with two sets, go all out on summer tires and get some decent, but not expensive snow tires. Of course, the sizes that that you will need will probably only come in high-perf models.

This is what I did on my Legacy.

    Nice spring/summer/fall tire.

Dunlop M3s for winter tire. These might as well have been tank treads.

I thought about two sets on my wife's legacy but the all season I have on there now already make the car a snow tank. As long as there is not feet of snow on the ground the subie is way better than any suv or truck I have ever owned on slick roads. The traction control in the subarus are awesome.

Boston college penn state game was a good one till the end. BC players cried like babies when they lost by 1. Their kicker botched a PAT.

Twas a good game for sure. Shitty way to lose a game but it's not the first time BC has botched a PAT and it is part of the game.

Yeah they had that game won in the second. They should have ran away with the game. Your boys gonna beat USC?

    What year/model?

I had an '05 Legacy GT wagon. Fuggen loved that car. But the ex got it... when it came down to the Subaru or Tacoma, it was an easy choice.

Still sucks though... I bought that car flat out with cash and she ended up with it 3 years later or so.
