XB LED Fog lights from The Retrofit Source

Hi folks,

Looking to install these headlights on my 2012 SR5 which do not have any fog lights installed. How would I go about getting the proper bezel (I do need this right?) and wiring? Do you have any links to acquiring these two items?

I just installed these on my '13. Super easy install thanks to the OP.

Now I don't have to be ashamed of my yellowy fogs compared to my Retrofit headlights.

I also did the fogs on anytime mod.

The flash on my phone causes you to see the LEDs, when you look at the lights you don't see them, they just look like clear glass.

Looks good. One of these days, I'll get to doing a retrofit for my headlights. Hopefully, later this year.

 

I had my headlights done by Burt (Ambiguous).

They aren't cheap, but he does really good work.

Those appear to be knockoff JW Speaker fogs, so nope. Not the same.

Don't want to mess up your write up thread but do you think I need to adjust the fog's? Should they be up higher? Thanks in advance.

 

Honestly, I almost never see my headlights against a wall like that, so I wouldn't be able to judge if that is what mine look like. You can always try it on your own vehicle and see if you like them adjusted up or not. Just a simple screw turn. Sorry, not so helpful on that part. Haha

 

No worries. Do you know how they adjust? Just up and down or can they be adjusted left to right as well? Also, which direction on the screw goes which way? I.e clockwise makes them go up or down? I have noticed that a lot of my light is pushing to the left and right of the truck and not so much out front. Not sure if thats how they(fog lights in general) are supposed to project light or not.

 

They should only adjust up and down. To bring the light up (the light that you see against a wall), turn the screw clockwise, down would be counter clockwise. Fog lights aren't meant to be overly bright, but you should be getting a pretty equal spread from the front out to the sides. But yes, you will get more light off to the sides with these compared to your OE fog lights.

 

This is the screw. It's a...brass looking guy.

 

I'm tracking on where the screw is to make the adjustments. My question is which direction on the screw makes the fogs go what direction...? and if there is a horizontal adjustment or just vertical...

Is it worth getting these with the LaminX yellow film? What is the lumen output and the color temperature after applying LaminX? The original LEDs have 1200 lumen (per lamp) and 5000K color temperature listed.

Never mind the above questions. I did some research and found that yellow fog lights actually do not offer any advantage. What helps is wearing yellow tinted glasses which eliminate the blue color out of the visible spectrum, thus enhancing contrast and improving visibility in low light conditions. Also, having a low clear cut-off line and spreading the light to the sides helps with visibility during fog driving conditions.
