I have a 2011 Tacoma, the center console light has been flickering, I can't tell id the bulb is going or if there is a short. The dealer wanted 99 dollars to replace the bulb. I ask for them to just leave the bulb in the truck and I would do it myself.
I have a safe in the console now, but do I need to remove the entire center console to get at the bulb. Just to charily this light is to illuminate the gear selection on the automatic transmission.
Thank you in advance for all of your input

Not sure how to access the bulb (I drive a stick :D) but a flickering bulb sounds like a loose connection. Probably just have to get in there and reseat the bulb, maybe add a little dielectric grease while you're at it.

    Easy fix,
    Unscrew the shift knob
Pull up on the plastic piece that the shifter comes thru
The next piece of plastic over the light has a clip on front & rear, under that is the bulb

remember to pull the little orange condom off the old bulb, (not included with bulb)
