    Re: 2013 Tacoma V6.

Twice within the past year while I was working on a motorcycle in my enclosed & un-heated garage with the Taco parked nearby inside, I heard a faint noise like a small electric motor running down low toward the rear of the truck. When I put my ear up to the body work I definetly hear it, and the only thing I can relate it to is the sound of a fuel pump in the tank. If I put my key in the ignition and turn it to the ACC position the noise immediately stops.

I assume it happens all the time when I don't happen to be near by in a quiet place withnthe vehicle.

My dealer says "no way" and thinks I'm nuts.

Anybody have a serious explanation for this?

Yep, it's normal, one noise you don't have to sweat.

Seriously, my Toyota mechanic confirmed that it is the fuel system (I assumed fuel pump) and it can cycle up to five hours after you turn the vehicle off and repeat the recycle for up to 24 hours (if I remember correctly) in some vehicles.

Not as noisy as the new smog pump.

I heard that once or twice and popped open the gas cap and it immediately stopped. Not sure if it is venting pressure from the tank or something, but if I open the gas cap it stops everytime.

    Normal sound as stated.

I think that prolly defeats the purpose of saving the planet from evil fuel vapors. ;)

I suspected it was the fuel pump and even told the service manager that, but hell, they don't know everything.

Thanks for confirming my thoughts that all is well.

I heard mine for the first time this afternoon, I started the engine and turned it back off and the noise stopped.
