Jamie, I've been told by Eric to tell you to stop being a pussy and go the 4wd way. It's not that hard he says. He also doesn't have skids

Until it leaks because the ground floods or you didn't waterproof it after you bought it, then you're back in the slums.

    Rug Road/Turkey Creek Camp-out 2015!!!

Ladies and gents, it's that time again!

    March 27th-29th (Friday-Sunday)

In-depth trail info on page one: http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/arizona/265528-jeepandrews-az-trail-runs-campouts.html

Rug Road is a historic 23 mile ranching/mining trail that crosses the Galiuro Mts east of Mammoth, to Turkey Creek and the town of Klondyke. This trail is rated 3.5-4/5, depending on summer storms.

This trip is 2wd/prerunner friendly via alternate route (aka "backdoor penetration route") from either Thatcher (east of Globe) or Willcox (east of Tucson)

The 4wd group will be meeting at The Valero Gas Station in Catalina (time TBD), as well as making a final stop at the Circle K in Mammoth for fuel/final supplies before hitting the trail head. 2wd group shall determine their own meetup spot/time. I will be posting GPS coords' for backway routes very soon!

**IMPORTANT!-Larger than stock tires recommended and minimum 2" of lift and AT THE VERY LEAST rock sliders required for the 4wd route. Pinstriping also possible. CB radio is recommended to all 4wd route attendees**

    Rug Road highlights:

    -The Tire Chute
-Carpet Hill (steep-as-fuck off-camber shelf road with 700 ft descent in less than 3/4 mile)

-Moab-style wheeling and scenery at east 1/4th of trail

Im sure its not that bad but when we hiked up the back way there was a hairpin on a turn that had a cliff on one side my truck cant even turn backing up without rubbing and I really dont feel like trying to do that. And also 12 hours of trail does not seen fun to me so I will just greet everyone in camp like I did last year. Say whatever you want guys I'm still not doing it :)

I remember some narrow steep steps on the last section, but nothing that tight. Maybe it just seemed easier at that part after some of the other shit we just came through LOL

This rug road sounds fun. The videos I queued up on YouTube didn't look like you explain at all.

The vids only show a few little areas, and the camera perspective on carpet hill doesn't do it justice at all. There is such a variety of terrain to cross through on this entire trail, from low desert and creekbeds to high desert ridges with steps and boulders, finishing in a really cool shaded canyon with running water.

Jason came up with a kick ass idea for some skids for me and I took them to Brandon. I hope I can get them after taxes.
