Aside from having open windows, it helps if the tent's rainfly allows for air circulation.

For the tipi I got they make a liner to create a double wall. This retains heat but also keeps condensation from dripping on you. I would imagine you could do something similar for the RTT. It would be pretty simple to just line the top of the tent so it doesn't drip on you.

 

I think that if the fabric of the RTT's were a little bit more breathable then they would already have that function since the rainfly is elevated slightly to create that void. Most normal ground tents have the mesh up at the peak to help transfer that condensation to the outer fly.

The heavy canvas on the RTT serves a good purpose though. I can usually manage the condensation by cracking the windows a bit. I see more under the mattress since I don't have the anti condensation mat.

 

Having the windows open slightly to allow some airflow helps a lot with condensation inside the tent. It won't eliminate completely but it definitely helps.

 

I have tryed keeping the windows almost half way down and still got woken up by a freezing cold drops hitting me in the face. I like the idea of putting up another layer up. I will try stretching a towel up on the inside above our heads.

 

I'm sure geographical location plays a part too. Utah is a pretty dry climate so I doubt we would get the same level of condensation as somewhere that's more humid.

 

Went camping 2nd weekend in Dec in Tn. The inside of tent frosted so cold and so much moisture in the air. The outside of tent was complete frost. I was sleeping in an igloo lol

Does anyone have an annex on a Kukenam on here? I'm thinking of adding one to my RTT but I can't find any good Google photos (or photos on the Tepui site) that show what it looks like. I think it only has 3 sides to the annex on this model. Just wanted to know if it had usable space and what the space looks like.

 

Any pictures? I will say that Tepui and CVT tents look really similar....

Hello everyone, I am completley new to the RTT's and I am looking at buying one this year, but have a few dumb questions. I don't have anyone near me to look at one and see likes/dislikes. I have a DCLB with a Leer 100XL (thule rack installed) and I am curious on the pros/cons of mounting to the shell and also adding a baja rack and mounting it above the cab. Thanks in advance!

 

Easier route is to simply mount it on your cap with the thule crossbars. I did it for a long time like that.
A wind fairing helps though.
