First off, I'm aware that there are already threads on this subject, but non of them have proved useful.

My 2007 DCSB keeps popping the IGN 1, 10 amp fuse behind the coin tray. It happens whenever i try to put my truck in reverse. I loose the indicator lights on my dash for Park, Reverse etc., my turn signals do not work, and my ac controls also do not work.

It first happened when i was just don't doing some light offloading, i unlocked my diff, and then i put the truck in reverse (i don't know why but i did) and thats when it popped the fuse for the first time.

I have tried to check my trailer harness, as that seemed to cause it (what i read in other threads). I also checked the harness to the tail lights.

Im just really confused as to why this happened out of the blue, i am assuming that i have a short or ground somewhere, but i do not know where else to look!

Any input would be awesome, thanks!

create opens in the circuit to find shorts. unplug the tail lights and trailer wiring. throw a new fuse in, throw it in reverse. did it blow? if yes, keep going unplugging other things on that circuit. if no, your short is somewhere in what you unplugged.
if it seems over your head, bring it to a dealership, let the professionals find it.

hmmm makes sense, i will have to try that. I'm just hoping its something stupid and not expensive. I wonder if i got some dirt or moisture in a connection or something.

I've seen the list floating around on some of those other threads I was talking about hahaha. Yeah I'm just thinking it has something to do with the reverse lights or trailer harness because it pops when I throw it in reverse.

Not sure if it's important or not, but I don't run a hitch with my bumper setup, so I disconnected the harness where you can, if that makes sense I guess haha.

*cough* wiring diagrams for reverse circuits on the truck and tow package if you have it *cough*

That stated, its not going to be on the trailer harness side if its blowing the IGN1 fuse (unless the backup lamp relay under the hood is effed) If it was the trailer harness it would be blowing the back up lamp 10amp fuse under the hood.

Next pull your reverse lights out of both tail lights. If it blows the fuse its between the the switch at the shift lever and the tail light. If it does not blow its between the bulb and the ground / possibly a problem in the socket.

Ok, so earlier I pulled out both bulbs and it still popped, does this mean it is somewhere between the lights and the switch then? What switch are you talking about???

OK, so if you look at the backup light PDF. with IGN1 fuse in and working power will be seen all the way to the backup switch (from IGN1 fuse to the pink wire, to the yellow wire). Because your fuse is popping when you are putting it into reverse, that means that its somewhere between the switch (located in the center console for the auto, no idea for the manuals) and the tail lights themselves that its shorting out (the red wire in the diagram).

Do you have the tow package? About the only other place it could be shorting would be the run between the backup switch and the backup light relay for the towing

i do have the tow package, if that matters. and i do have an auto. I'm going to go look for the switch in the center console, seems like the easiest place to start. let me go see if i can figure that out! thanks man!

you gotta pull the center console by the shifter apart. I hightly doubt its the switch itself, but the run of wire between the switch and all the way back along the frame to the tail lights.

i will try to trace that wire back as soon as i get a chance in a couple hours here.

Im just confused as to why this would happen out of no where. I couldn't imagine that i have a pinched wire or anything. The night before it happened it was chilly out and there was a lot of frost on my truck, so I'm wondering if some moisture got in somewhere or something of that nature??? Im also wondering if me having nothing plugged in to the trailer harness could cause a short??? still bring to figure this out, its a bummer.

Like stated if it was a short at the trailer harness plug it would be blowing the backup fuse in the main fuse box and not ign 1 fuse. Its possible some moisture got somewhere. I would pull both tail lights and unplug them from the harness to see if its the sockets themselves.

For sure man. If it still blows a fuse. I would pull the tail relay in the main fuse box to elimante that as a possibility (though highly unlikely. ).

Then I would trace the reverse light hot from the tail light back to the cab and see if its shorting anywhere.

This code makes me believe that it is the switch mechanism in the center console. What do you think?

So my truck won't let me pick gears, like putting it into 4th or 3rd (auto) so I think it's either the switch in the shifter or is it on the trans, I cannot locate it...
