Anybody have any ideas how to get this SOB out of low 4, I left it over night in low 4 with tem. about 10 degrees. When I tried to go to work this morning would not shift out of 4 low, just beeps at me.

    wrong forum...

but you must be stopped in neutral (and if you have a manual clutch pressed all the way to the floor) then you can flip from 4lo to 4hi.

    The last guy.

If it's a manual, you have to be in neutral, foot on brake, then switch out of Lo-4. Then got back to drive and it'll 'clunk' as it re-engages to where you put the dial.

Do you have floor mats? Make sure they didn't shift up and prevent the clutch from going all the way down. My weathertechs shifted before and have prevented the clutch from going down enough to start the truck

The motor that engages/disengages Lo might be frozen.

Is it a motor or a solenoid that shifts it?

I had this happen to me once.

I was stuck on a side of the mountain in 4Lo and left it there overnight - low teens that night. Next morning wouldn't come out of 4Lo. Drove it in 4Lo for a couple of miles and if finally released. Could just need to warm up.

Sounds right. I couldn't get mine INTO 4lo at one point so I took everything apart yet nothing was wrong. You're probably fine.

    Not sure. I know it's a motor to engage Hi4/Hi2 but I don't know about Lo4.

If it's beeping, it's operator error. You have to be completely stopped with the clutch fully depressed BEFORE range shifting the transfer case. If you don't get it right, you have to turn the knob BACK to the range you are actually in (in this case 4LO), wait for the beeping to stop. Then depress the clutch fully, at a complete stop, and then turn the switch to 4HI

It's a small electric motor with worm drive on the shift rail. It's probably busted, those things are junk. Likely your actuator is bad or the shift rail is jammed up.

If you think it's "frozen" you can go under the truck and heat it up with a hair dryer and try again maybe.

A failed actuator will cause a no-shift situation, but will not cause the 4wd ECU to beep.
