cb antenna

I currently have a 102'' whip. I was wondering if i should get a fiberglass antenna, cause im going wheeling in a few weeks and i dont want hurt anyone, i know the whip could hit someone in the eye.

If i do get one where should i get it. Radioshack??

How big? and should i get 2.

Should i mount it to my toolbox or one that come through the crack in the hood(cant remebedr what those are called)?

i am very happy with this antenna. good reception and its very flexy so it wont snap. i would mount it on the toolbox if you want a permanent mount. just drill holes in the tool box and mount the mount on there, then seal it with caulking or somethin

I had an long whip on my old Hilux back in the day. When I went wheelin, I tied the tip down to the front, like on the military Humm V's. It was mounted at the back of the bed, so I arched it over to the front. Everything just brushed right over it.

 

Heres what I did. 3 foot firestik. Works and looks great. I put a spring on mine just to be safe.

just keep the long antenna and and tuck it away...it wont hurt anything.

btw.....i have a 4ft fiberglass antenna......you are welcome to...i aint using it anymore.(hell...maybe its 3 ft...cant remember).

 

i used to run the same whip antenna on my old 91 and 94 toyotas as you have... i would just leave it if you like it. i never had any issues out of mine while offroad... plus with those you never have to worry about it breaking from tree contact....

Sweet thanks!!!! can you bring it to the URE meet cause i think i want to switch to a short antenna cause it sucks going into parking decks at school and always having to get out and hook it down into the bedliner

Ok. does the 3' or 4' antenna mount to a standard cb mount? We could switch at the meet cause i still got to put the 102" whip on my tool box. I could just leave the mount. cause i took it off my truck when i got the tool box.

 

what do you mean by tuning it? i've heard it before but don't know what it means.
