It has 4 bolts that go up through the cap. I like the concept a lot. I just thing it will be alot of weight up high if i get a front runner rack with gear up top and then have that up in the head space. Like i said a really cool concept. I wonder how much this thing costs.

I really wanna make a safari basket for the top of the cap out of aluminum but for cost reasons ill prob make it out of light steel.

I have the Dakars with AAL

I also really like it as a concept. Its an up scale mod probably with an up scale price tag.

Your truck is turning out pretty awesome. I love the roof rack. Great pics!

I remember seeing the price somewhere... I want to say it was around $200... Can't remeber but that sounds about right.

Do you have the shackle flip?

I did the dakar AAL (D29XL) as well. Do you think it would be possible to add an additional D29XL spring in there to accommodate for more weight? Im getting pretty hefty with the rear bumper, swing out, spare, soon to be camper, roof rack, gear, drawer system, soon to be double jerry can holder, etc. That rear end gets heavy quick.

That leer locker is prob $$$$. I agree.

Thanx Dude! Can't wait to see all your Pelfrey armor installed!

That's it! That's really not a bad price. If you can mod the truck for under $500 I consider it a win! Lol

Im not technically sure if you you can double up an AAL. It would be something I would look into if I had really bad sag.
I dont have a shackle flip. Possible future mod.

Ill have a similar setup as you. Ill just have single jerry can and no slider drawers. Im not sold on the bed drawers as of now because its sort of permanent and minimizes the entry space of putting things in the bed. Example couch, lawn mower, beach cruisers.. What is appealing about the Leer locker is that there is huge lip where the hinge is for the cap window is. Most of the time if you cant get something through the entry dimensions of the bed with cap (tailgate down) it doesnt matter if you have another 6" of ceiling space.

Ive actually come to realize that with my own truck, less is more. Now that I have some of the bigger mods that I want, makes me want to delete some of the smaller mods. I plan on swapping out the BHLM for stock, Ive been thinkn bout going way back to bulb tail light, and possibly goin back to stock grill. Basically I dont want a bunch of flare on the truck :p

Yea man sure, theres a few things to note as I did not do them myself. I got them from a member last year parting out his truck at my house for the dealership. Theres a small fog spot bout the size of a dime, I think it was from the paint fumes. And there is a nick in the black paint. But they are sealed tight and do not fog from condensation.

Im really not in a rush tho. Want stock lights with steel front bumper.

Really like that you kept the OEM grill on your build

I'm pretty sure you can not double up add a leafs. But the overload spring can be flipped for additional load capacity.

Love your build and I have been following for a while. I definitely like more of a stock look with a nice 2-3"lift and canopy. If you are looking for a steel bumper to add a winch to have you looked at UnderCover winch mounts? Keeps that stock look upfront but adds a key piece of equipment for offroading and back country travel?

IIRC the Dakar AAL kit literally just adds another of the same size leaf (3rd I think)... when we did Ckeene's I noticed it was the same as the leaf below it in the original pack.

How much lift do you need? I know of another truck with Dakars and the AAL running a camper shell, roof rack, heavy ass swingout, spare, 10 gallons of water and he sits just fine. He has the shackles flipped...flip them shackles!

So if you have Dakars w/AAL and a shackle flip...then you sir are sitting high in the ass...have you thought of getting a set of XJ shackles that are a little longer? Longer shackles provide some lift...I am also running XJ shackles that are just a little bit longer but not much.
