Ya that does seem like a good setup. Curious how the cargo basket is fastened to the rack (and whether it's reliable). Also need to find a basket that can support the mounting of a 50" curved led light bar

So I have the yakima Loadwarrior and there is room under/just in front of it where you could mount the 50"curved to the roof tracks. Otherwise why wouldn't you just get a 40+" one and mount it to the rack since the racks are straight across?

I see you have 503 in your name so if you have the 50" in your possession we could always meet and see if it would work with the yakima.

^^^Don't have the the light bar yet, but I definitely want one in the near future. I kinda want the full 50" though. So your Yakima Loadwarrior is for sale?

You can find a lot cheaper baskets, same quality for much less. As for the bars, the whispbar is Yakima's highest end bar for a naked roof. They offer a much cheaper system that serves the same purpose.. also Rhino Rack has some nice stuff.

Just do the regular Q Tower, Round Bars & Basket. I have never had an issue with noise. The basket would make more noise than the round bars or the whisperbar. No sense in going overboard for whisperbar.

No sorry, just saying if you had the light bar we could put it up to my truck and see how it would fit with the Yakima basket since you were looking for a basket that would work with one.

Get PRINSU and forget the hassle. In the long run Yakima/ Thule cost just as much. If you do go Yakima, don't jump your truck with a 100 pound canoe on the roof. Guess how I know...

    Hi 58 Siesta,

I'm thinking of running a Tepui Pop-Up Tent on top of a Yakima Whispbar HEAVY DUTY Bar (S17),.. Is this a bad idea??

    Thx.

Well, You'll exceed the load rating. Technically that rating is for on road. Like everything, you can exceed it safely (to some degree) especially when not in motion. I'd do a Baja Rack or PrInSu if you're doing a tent. On the Yakima, if the tent starts a rockin' you might end up like me

Don't suppose anyone has any pictures of Yakima Bars + Loadwarrior on an access cab?

I'm thinking of this set-up primarily for light mounting locations, and to permanently carry lighter items such as a shovel, and a water tight box with loose items (first aid kit, straps, etc) to free up storage space in the cab/bed of the truck.

Not a big fan of drilling holes in the roof, especially on a new vehicle.

Haven't a couple of people fitted Yakima/Thule tracks to the channel on the accesscabs?

ETA- OK, after doing some searching, RhinoRack makes the RTS547 for the double cab but I can't think of any reason you couldn't cut the tracks to fit our shorter roofs, especially since you're going to have to drill holes anyways.

The way I looked at it the prinsu rack was only a few hundred more than a Thule or Yakima setup. Yes it's permanent because you drill 12 holes in the roof but it's way more versatile imo. It allows me to have my kayaks and rtt rocking at the same time and gave me a solid mounting spot for my awning

It's really gonna come in handy this coming year I've got a few longer trips and it'll give me the pup space I need as well

By the time you do the whole setup with a basket, Yakima is close to the same cost as Prinsu.

Oh ya add any accessories to one of those racks and it's basically the same price... I mean you can get lucky and find some used stuff. Plus the prinsu just looks sooo good

That's actually why I like the idea of the tracks better- I think the prinsu is ugly. Super functional and a quality product, but not attractive.

Woah thread revivial, I didn't realize I started this bad boy was wondering why it kept popping in notifications. I went Prinsu... amazing and has worked fantastic. Been on the roof for almost three years, I happen to think it looks great.

Lots of pics in my profile for it installed, not the process, just the finished product.
