I have mine bolted and applied loc-tite to each nut .. yeah it moves when not secured to the pillar .. minimal movement but still noticeable.

I would imagine it should be similar with the airflow. I could use some mpg gains

I don't take anything for granted. I haven't looked into the airflow because I don't like the look. The fact that it uses 4 inch tubing over safari's 3 could actually hurt it though. And I think this is why there are problems with snow build up. Safari being 3 means air travels through faster helping the scoops cyclone effect. With the airflows 4 inch you eventually hit a bottleneck which means your not using all the air it can deliver and the flow slows down.

Your main intake hole is still only 2.5" in diameter. Look under the passenger side fender.

The throttle body looked pretty small too. But that's the point. Air traveling through a 3 inch pipe hitting a 2.5 is going to bottleneck a little. A 4 inch pipe to 2.5 is going to bottleneck a lot more which means air traveling into the snorkel is going to hit back pressure, slow down, and not seperate dirt and snow as well.

Is there still a backorder on Airflow? And whatever happened to the Safari model that was supposed to be released?

It's in production or about to be IIRC. I would wait for Safari's instead of the airflow brand.

How much is the Safari going to run price though? I keep hearing well over $500

@NYCO or @la0d0g do you guys have any comment about post #'s 107-109?

Was beginning to be sold on the Airflow snorkel until I read those posts.

I haven't had any issues with snow build up or any other issues that have affected performance. It's been almost four years and I would do it over again.

I agree, I have the Safari and friends with Airflow, no one has any performance issues, nor issues with plugging up in snow. I like to brag that my Safari sounds better than theirs when flooring it, but that is semantics really.....

A small handful of select mods.
Pretty sure the opening in the fender is 3 inches not 2.5"s. I know a lot of people that have Super Chargers lIke the airflow over the safari snorkel. But now that Safari has released their new model for the 2nd gen taco it has 4" diameter tubing like the airflow snorkel.

problem with the theory of the 3in will help with the "cyclone effect" causing air to move faster is unless you recalibrate your MAF sensor for the change, your engine will think it's getting more air than it actually is. URD's calibrator can help with this...people have that issue with CAI systems as well...they will end up running rich since the system thinks it has more air than it actually does.

and even recently, i had snow build up at the back of the snorkel hat on the airflow driving in the mountains 2 weekends ago...i've since moved over to my engineair precleaner for the rest of the winter...
