What Have You Done To Your 2nd Gen Tacoma Today?

I should do that. The dog rides shotgun sometimes and it drives me nuts. I got a seat belt end to clip in without the actual belt which has solved my problem, but disabling the chime would be a cleaner fix.

The dealer was hesitant and said they weren't physically able to do it. I had found somewhere on here an actual menu sheet for the computer in the newer tacomas and printed that off to take with me. Basically to prove it was possible.

 

Installed a blue LED to replace the blown bulb in the shifter. I like it. I also bought a 10 LED 240 Lumen output dome light bulb. It's friggin sweet!

 

This might work on a 2012, it did on my 2010. Worth a shot at least.

1) Turn the Car 'ON', but do not start the engine (Leave your foot off the brake). Cycle your trip reset knob until it reads ODO. Turn the ignition back off. Wait a couple of seconds.
2) Make sure seat belt is not fastened
3) Turn the ignition back on, do not start the car (Leave you foot off the break) As soon as you see everything light up, press and hold the trip reset knob and do a long 12 second count.
4) Keep your finger on the trip reset knob. Fasten your seat belt, as soon as you fasten your seat belt, you should see the ODO display go from XXXX miles to "b-on". At that time take your finger off the trip reset knob and press it again. It should cycle to "b-off". You should be all set and turn the ignition off and unfasten your seat belt.

No dice on my 12.

Haven't done the swap. Just done some homework on it. Toyota did a xrunner with a 5.7, so is definitely possible.

 

I was actually asking about the seatbelt chime, was just trying to get your attention

 

It was pretty easy once I got all the parts in. Running the wires through the doors to the fuse panel was the hardest part. If anyone wants, I can post part numbers and prices when I get out of class. HINT: The doors make terrible grounds. You'll need to run a grounding wire into the cab.
