As I said a couple posts up, I had rubbing when I had Cooper ST in 255/85R16 on the Method DoubleStandard 16x8 with Zero offset. It was not bad on the street (I drove like this for a week).

I removed the mud flaps long ago, even with stock tires they are very annoring as they scrape along on rocks and stuff and hit the tires (265/75R16) now and again. It seemed to me that the flaps would scrape up the truck fender paint when they were stuffed into rocks. Flaps might be okay on stock wheels and stock tires for cit driving, but off road with any tire/wheel upsize they are going to break off, rub like mad, and ruin the paint they mount on in my opinion. Review the posts OZ has provided and do what you think is best my friend!

I am. I haven't seen any rub on Light Racings, but they come close. As I mentioned, I will be getting 1" spacers for frame rub.

These are the TRD rims I have and I am running stock control arms with eibach coils wrapped around stock shock absorbers with mud flaps intact. Out back are factory tsb 4 leaf springs. It's been a few years now. I might get a little plastic rub at full lock carrying some speed into a driveway. Why do we drive on a parkway and park on a driveway? Anyways...that's my story. It's a mall crawler but I feel if the need ever arose it would hold its own. Very comfy. Not stiff at all. Just tall enough that it gives my wife and daughter a little bit of a hard time. My 6 year old son can climb in without too much drama. If I ever get that CBI or ARMOR TECH front hitch I might throw 5100's at it to compensate for additional weight. I have zero frame or control arm rub. Tracks straight at 95 mph for close to 2 years now. The km2's are at 31000 miles and got loud at about 1500 miles in but I love it. I think I will probably get 35-40 thousand miles out of them. The truck pulls hard and I have no problem on the highway passing anybody I want to pass. Mileage is all street and curb. Stopped cleaning the letters early on and me and the wife curb this truck regularly. I still get the thumbs up though not as much. If m55's are still available when these tires are worn then that might be next. But if the km2's go 45-50k then you can expect to see another set on the truck. I should mention I rotated once diagonally. I've been wanting to rotate front to back while keeping them on whatever side of the truck they're on. Well that's my review so far. I am about to drive this truck to Atlantic City to check out the car show.

Awesome I appreciate the info and background . I measured and don't think I would be able to run 255/85/16 I have 2.5" leveling lift up front but measured and looked too close to call. I just ordered 265/75/16 duratracs they get put on Monday. I had cooper discover stt the. Switched to a road tire. Let's say these finally wore out (excited about it) so I get to throw some aggressives back on.

    Little mileage update on mine.

21,000 miles on them and they have 8/32nds of tread left. New is 18/32nds. So that's not terrible mileage. I'll take it.

Im not able to get my 255/85 spare in the stock location. I got rid of the two tabs, but the problem is lengthwise. The tow hitch is in the way causing the tire to hit the diff. Anyone have any ideas?

You will be fine, I had no rubbing on the UCAs with Toyo M55s on stock TRD wheels 5.25 bs.

But if you are running a lift or plan to, IMO - the stock wheels in this tire size make the truck look tall and tippy. I didn't like the look or feel. I went with 1st gen tacoma/tundra/sequoia 16 hole steel wheels with 4.5 bs and it brings the tire further out in the wheel well without rubbing fender at full flex. Better size rim for the 255 tire!

Which ones would you recommend for a full replacement set? I'm sick of hearing these stockers grind whenever i drive on less than flat surfaces.

    Thanks.

You just have to move it around a bit. I leaned the tire against the diff and then lifted it and adjusted it to sit level. It will indeed fit underneath but it is tight.

Mine fits in stock location. Full stuff, no rub. You need to bend crossmember tabs a bit and cut tailpipe and rearmost exhaust hanger. I cut my exhuast after it dumps over axle. Whole ordeal only takes a few minutes. And yes, factory tow hitch.
