JeepAndrew's AZ Trail Runs/Campouts

Sweet. I have a hard time beating on a new truck. Reguardless I'm excited to get Sam camping and have some fun on this trip!

 

There is no beating, the back way is literally a graded dirt road until the last mile or so, then its still a dirt road just a few small water crossings

 

I have not met this Andrew, but anyone who works in thongs I know I can get a long with.

Does that mean an Xrunner could make it?

 

Xrunner would make it until we did the water crossings, then you would have to leave your truck behind.

 

Does a bear sit in the woods?

Just don't go mobbing through there in bumper nerf mode and you'll be fine

^This fine gentleman is correct. With Turkey Creek flowing, I counted 7-8 water crossings from camp out to Klondyke, all shallow (1 foot deep or less).

Truth be told, I was welding in boxers and a button-up cotton workshirt in the garage last Wed evening

Just playing with you bud! I honestly think you may have some difficulties on the last mile or so before camp. If need be, we can find a place for you to park and leave your truck and we can shuttle your camping stuff.

 

Quite honestly ur x runner would probably be ok unless water levels come up significantly. Theres one bump thats about the height of a large speed bump thay u may have trouble with but its soft sand and we gots tow straps.

 

Some of those water crossings are pretty steep... He might hang up on bumpers or high-center in places... We've never had an X-runner attend the Rug Road meet, so it's hard to say.

 

Oh, and don't anyone tell Kyla, but she will probably have a new vehicle of her own before Rug Road, so I may be driving the Blue Beauty (XJ) through the trail instead of the YJ. We shall see

Rug Road/Turkey Creek 2015!!!

March 27th-29th (Friday-Sunday)

Background Info
Rug Road is an historic 23 mile AZ ranching/mining 4WD trail that crosses the Galiuro Mountains East of Mammoth, over to Turkey Creek and the town of Klondyke. *This trail is Rated 3.5 - 4/5 depending on summer storms* Due to the number of 4WD attendees, we may split into two groups that will be 20 minutes apart on the trail.

Highlights/Obstacles
-The Tire Chute
-Carpet Hill
-Table Mountain Pass
-Smelter/mine ruins at Table Mountain Mine
-Abandoned cabins at Bleak Spring and Parson's Grove
-Moab-style wheeling and scenery at east 1/4th of trail
-Bad-ass camping in Turkey Creek at east end of trail
-Saturday trip to the ghost-town site of Aravaipa and the historic Sein Fein, Head Center and Grand Central silver/lead mines

This trip is 2WD/PreRunner friendly via alternate route (aka "Operation Backdoor Penetration") from either Thatcher (East of Globe) or Wilcox (East of Tucson).

-Larger than stock tires
-Minimum 2" of lift
-Rock sliders
-CB Radio or HAM is recommended
-Tread Lightly
