Alright guys so I've been contemplating taking my away bar off for a while now and I have a few questions that I want answered before I move forward with removing it. I've searched the forums and read all them but have some questions of my own. I have a bilstein 5100 lift, so the front shocks are preloaded and super stuff, which is why I think allowing more away may improve the feel of the truck.

I have had a jeep before this and had quick disconnect sway bars on that, does anyone offer the same kind of thing? Maybe a mounting system for the detached sway bar?

I've driven a truck and jeep with a lot of body roll and don't mind the feeling, but will that help or make worse the small bumps and pot holes in the road. Like stated I have max set Bilsteins and it's a bumpy ride, does anyone have experience with the same lift with no sway bar?

How does the handling of the truck change at 50+ mph. I know at lower speeds the response is changed a little, but not noticeable. I wanna know what happens after 50 mph, does the trick sway a lot? Is the handling effected more? The highway where I live is 65 or 75 mph speed limit and a lot of winding curves, so I don't wanna take this thing off and all of a sudden feel like it's gonna roll at high speeds

Last. When I 4wheel its usually higher speed trails, so would the disconnect benefit me off road at higher speeds seeing all it does is allow more away and travel?

I wanna make sure this disconnect is what I'm looking for so any input will help.

I'm running 5100's @ 2.5", stock springs and no sway bar. I much prefer the way the truck feels with the sway bar off.

I would think you would have more body roll if you are using stock springs.

Springs are stock yes, but the shock is the Billie and set at max, meaning they're preloaded and stiff. So I think that should help the body roll, but we will see

Too poor to list anything interesting.
Stiffer springs worked out well for me when I took mine off. Are you still running OEM springs?

When I'm driving 75mph and kissing my gas mileage good bye, I haven't had an issue. Even when I have my camping gear in the truck. I love how it handles on the streets around here, especially with the pot holes. It doesn't seem to shake me around as badly.

It would allow for more travel, but don't expect a ton.

I'd say if you drive your truck more like a sports car, keep them on. If you drive it like a truck, you can take them off and see what you think. The first day or two will feel weird to you. But know you can always put the bar back on.

Everything you just said is true! Haha took it off the his morning and love it already. Small pot holes and bumps aren't as bad and don't rattle me around as much! Also with the OEM off road springs and the shocks, minimum body roll!! Super happy

I disconnect my sway bar when I go wheeling. Other than that I come from a world of lowered cars with stiff suspensions. Body sway pisses me off when I'm driving in the road.

FWIW with my stock suspension I don't notice not having a sway bar when I'm cruising down the road. Now when I hit the trails or hit some bumpy stuff I remember I took it off. On road performance didn't really change and after a week with it off it's like it was never there. OP take that POS off

02 Tacoma, fixed with curse words.
I wheeled for 5years with the sway bar on there and eventually bent the links and had to cut it off. The idea was to save my CV's and ball joints. These trucks flex like crap up front no matter what, so that's why i left it on there. Since it has been removed the truck handles like my YJ did without one, floaty and leans over pretty good in a very sharp turn, however i feel safe with it off.
