It's a well known fact that you don't engage a rear drum parking brake in extremely cold weather. Sooner or later you'll get a freezeup. You had it in a F150 so you know it happens. Don't pretend like it only happens with F150's.

Gen I Tundra actually was mid sized, look at the specs. Just barely larger than a Gen 2 Tacoma. Two inches wider on each side, not a BFD. Ten inches longer than a Gen 2 Tacoma, not a BFD since the bed was two inches longer and the rear step bumper was two inches longer. Approach/departure/breakover angles were roughly the same since the Gen I Tundra had an extra inch to 1.5" better stock ground clearance from front crossmember to pumpkin and the same wheelbase.

Gen I Tundra didn't have the goofy crossover exhaust hanging low, no extreme angles on the driveline from transmission to pumpkin, smooth driveline. It was a beautiful blueprint for a Gen 3 Tacoma. They should have started from the Gen I Tundra platform for a new generation Tacoma instead of barely reforming a Gen 2 Tacoma.

If the leafs are like the last gen rado they are not worth a crap as well. Manufacturers make anything that's a 1500 or below with soft springs these days. Otherwise they get knocked for horrible ride etc... Gotta go 2500 to get a decent set of springs.

Lets say this. Same load on a taco vs the Colorado the drop on the Taco was a lot more.
3 people on the end of the tailgate set the taco at the bumps. Colorado did not drop but 50% what the taco did and had more to go. Just could not get a 4th person on it. No room.

What would have been sweet for the Gen 3 is the Gen I Tundra Limited duplicated, but with the composite bed and rear discs.

Lightweight smooth badass truck that's not too bulky. Gen I Tundra Access Cab I weighed at 4920 lbs curb weight, had to do so to get it titled in Colorado. With composite bed probably 4520 lbs.

Both new trucks? Once you get the miles on those rado springs they will negative arch as well.

Hmm Diesel powered camper ? Holy crap thats maybe best idea yet. Those old Toyota pickups where perfect small campers, chevy with 2200 lb payload could be turned into nice camper. Little lift and lockers front rear, plus nice plate bumper with winch and just got ultimate offroad camper.

If that Diesel turns out to be good engine Tacoma will get clobbered.

I never claimed this only happens to F150's, I just gave my personal experience. Jeez lol.

I use my parking brake all the time on my sloped driveway. I can use pavement to unfreeze my rear brake if necessary in a jam, which I did on my old F150. That's cheaper than replacing a transmission because my driveway is on a 10 degree slope. 10 degrees on the parking latch over time will brake it at some point.

The Tundra (Gen 1) was midsized by todays standards, but at it's time of release it was just slightly smaller than the half tons it had been designed to compete against. It had also been engineered to be a half ton, which the current Tacoma has not.

As for the other design flaws you talked about, how about you wait to see what they did with the Gen 3 (detailed drive line examination at the dealership) rather than talk about something that there has been minimal information on other than "it's new".

It's not that much savings at first glance but it could be. I picture a parks department, like Seattle parks, ordering ~25 of these and they get shipped in straight to a truck body place. Work beds are sitting ready to be installed onto them. No removal of anything or modding. If you were the head of a parks department or something similar I bet this makes life a whole lot easier for you and will save tax-payer money. All those "difficult" hours of removing truck beds would be coming out of our pockets.

And nobody wants those surplus base white and green beds or tail gates anyway. A local equipment auction sells piles of them per lot, they go for cheap prices and probably end up in the scrap metal heap.

This is a good idea for a small truck.

    Yep.

They offered Cab Chassis with the out going Colorado for fleets, just a continuation of that.

I wonder if the frame is different like they do on the HD Ram, Ford, and Chevy?
They have a more flat or flat frame to let it have a lower center and more stable plus stronger.

Im past the need to drive cool or up to date. I have thought about a flat bed with tool boxes or some type of set up that makes camping and hunting easy. Building a full size with a 10' flat bed and tool box set up would be killer. ATV and coolers would fit no trailer needed.

A bed like the taco is too tight go use for an ATV need to use a trailer. If a little wider and taller it would work with a 6.5' bed maybe.

I can tell you this. My friend just bought one 2 weeks ago. It's already at the dealer. Went to start it and nothing. The ECM shorted out. They told him it was the 3rd one they have seen this year at that dealership.

There must be some kind of sale going on. IN last two days I had seen at least 10 of Colorado trucks.

Saw a black canyon today next to me at the light. I will admit it looks sharp in person.

Maybe that idiot running around talking about all the ECU failures coming got confused between the Colorado and the Tacoma. :)

You guys better watch out, mentioning frame rot or anything else related to Tacoma will get you banned...
