Please let us know how it works out. I was going to buy one a few years ago but read on TW that there were problems with the cable getting jammed up. I did buy the Hood app and it works fine. Thanks for any reply.

I had one installed on my 2013 FX4 150 for approx. a year, and I absolutely love it. That is why I started searching Ebay for one to add to my Tacoma. I found one that had a buy it now price or a best offer, I just paid $11 total, the seller was offering free shipping as well, here is the link for that seller:

Here's a ~$15 mod I discovered. Just wanted to share a great way to organize the lids of second gen Tacoma center consoles. The product is called Grid-It, and it's a multi-use organizer with endless possibilities.



There are several randomly criss-crossed elastic bands with rubber grippers that hold anything you can think to shove into them.



It comes in many sizes, but the one that fits perfectly in our center consoles is the

$17 Cocoon CPG5BK GRID-IT!® Accessory Organizer - Small 10.25" x 5.125" (Black)

Grid-It CPG5BK and is $10. The dimensions are roughly 5"x10", and it's almost a perfect fit.



It comes with the added bonus of a little zipper pouch on the back side. I cut that off completely, and just used some heavy duty adhesive backed velcro to hold it in place.



You have to cut away 2 notches about 1cm into the edge of the panel and bend them away to clear the lid hinges, and use a lighter to sear up the frays, but otherwise it closes and is a great fit.



Install velcro on the underside of the lid, and there's no drilling necessary! I have been offroad with it multiple times, bumping the truck around violently, and nothing budged.

I'm super happy I was able to find such a perfect use for this product. Here it is installed with the Salex Organizer in, and I can confirm that it fits great with room to spare. I can even fit a C Cell Flashlight, and a Otter Box Pursuits 20 in between the two.

Anyone know if this same exact mod can be duplicated to operate the turn signals? I realize there's not switch like for the fogs so I'll probably have to duplicate that switch too. Just wondering if I can make the turn signals operate the same way as the fogs with a separate switch. Have seen a lot of DTRL mods in the forum but they all seem a lot more detailed than this anytime fog mod. Any insight provided is appreciated. Thanks!

 

They already work just like the anytime fog, key on, move the lever and a turn flashes.

What are you trying to accomplish? Maybe my chicken parm is making me a bit foggy, but I don't get it.

 

Yeah I wasn't very specific. My bad. What I meant was a separate switch that allows you to turn them on solid (not flashing) and off as opposed to the lever that activates the actual flashing pattern. What I'd like to do is be able to turn the signal lights on and keep them on via a switch so that they operate like the running lights or fog lights but independently from them. I'd like to be able to run the fogs separately, signals (not flashing, but solid) separately and running (corner) lights separately. My truck is an 07 Sport. I don't know if that makes it more or less confusing lol.

 

Be much easier just to up the output of the parking lights (LEDs?) and leave the turns alone.

And in your scenario, you still have to have the turn lever override the 'on' circuit to create a flash to be legal, which adds another level of complexity.

 

On the back of the turn signal plug on mine there is a 3rd hole. Put a piece of wire in there that goes to the other blinker then to a switch that gives it positive power and that's it.

The DTRL mod basically does exactly this by pulling power from the side markers instead of a separate 12v circuit so the turns come on with the side markers. So you could just wire them directly if you didn't want any other lights to come on. Oh, and they're already grounded so it really would just be switched 12v to each 3rd hole, and nothing else.

 

This is to the other guy,
Just realize your dtrl won't be full power, and thus barely visible during the day. So if you want them to be full brifhtness, the simple dtrl mod won't do anything for you.

Installed and the cable does get jamb up a bit. I slowly forced it shut a few times and it seems to be a little better, but still isn't as good as it was on my f150. It even drops a little faster than it did on the f150 too. Not a good fit at all....

Super easy install, 10 min. project but not real sure I recommend even the $11 and 10 min. you'd be out
