I am debating upgrading my stock headlights to HID and have been doing research for the last few weeks but am still not clear on all aspects this so I hope you guys don't mind my questions.

I am thinking of going with the xenon depot HID kit with the phillips 4300 bulbs.

    https://www.xenondepot.com/H11-HID-Kit-Xtreme-HID-p/xt-h11.htm

Can I use the OEM projector with this or will I also need to upgrade to a new projector like the rx350?

are there any other parts that will be necessary that I am missing? has any one doing this conversion had any issues with reliability in poor weather like we can get up here in new england?

    Thanks in advance.

You can use the stock projector and the cutoff will do it's job and minimize glare for other drivers but you won't get the best out of the HID bulb. If you are looking for a sharp, flat and colorfull cutoff then you want a projector designed for HID like the RX350 or even better a NHK G5-R.
Maybe try out the new Morimoto 2stroke 2.0 and see if it's a better alternative.

Thanks for the response, I figure if I'm doing this I should do it right. Have hard is it to swap projectors? Will it require more weather proofing with silicone or something similar?

just installed the XD 5K HID low beams in my '16.
have the Vleds for high beams.

with the XD's I've not had any flashes from oncoming traffic and there is no way I'm outdriving the low beams at 70mph. The high beams from Vleds do not in any way enhance my night time driving experience.

so far very impressed with the HID's from XD.

Awesome, how hard was the install? Are you using the stock projector or did you upgrade the housing?

Time wise...2 beers, using the stock projectors. plug and play.
These will do until i find something out there thats worthy. Hint hint Meso.....

But took me longer....4 beers + 2 extra for sitting back and admiring my job well done...Since I did the side markers, signals, fogs, high beams, replaced the grill with the TRD, Meso mirror signals, did the blackout badge overlay kit and removed the chrome bumper caps and replaced them with black.

figuring out where to spend my next 1000$

    I'm spent. ;(
