I got a '06 Tacoma and tonight I turned on my lights and the illumination for the ac controls didn't come on. I tapped on the controls and all lit up except the position control. That one never lit up. Anyone else have that issue? Thanks, Shawn

    There's two lamps in there.
Wedge base twist lock, you need to replace the whole thing... the lamp is not replaceable separately.

    It's a "Neo" type lamp.

The bulbs are replaceable. Just pull out the control head and on the back you'll see 2 brown circles with a flat blade slot in them. Twist them to remove the bulbs. I think you can only get these bulbs from Toyota.

    Edit: Didn't read rich's post......:anonymous:

This is what they look like when removed. You might be able to do just the bulb, but I've never done it this way.

Same thing with my truck happened but I'm just dealing with it, I really hope there's a way to replace the bulb because I know people on here do led swaps with them

Nahh... you can get them from other sources.

Don't get LED though... the color looks horrible through the tinted plastics.

    http://autolumination.com/74.htm

Scroll down almost exactly halfway and search for part number 79674-S3N-941.
Order the Clear Type-B (T4) for $1.49 each

I was not happy with LEDs... those two lamps are the only non-LED on the dash other than the dimmable lights for the buttons.

Problem with trying to reuse the sockets is you can't easily source lamps with long enough legs.

Good link on candlepower... do you have a direct link to where you ordered the package for the Google-impaired who are going to see this thread and inevitably ask?

I ordered mine from the link I posted above. Quick and fair shipping.
$1.49 each, don't remember what they charged for shipping.

This information is something that really needs to be stickied in the lighting section.
Everyone assumes that they are LED.

    It wasn't easy to find.

I honestly don't remember how I found it 6 months ago, and every time I've posted it, I've had to search for my own forum posts here because I keep forgetting to bookmark it.

That's what I was thinking too. I was more just trying to show OP what the sockets looked like.

But looks like it's all been sorted out. Great work guys!!:)

    Stock for now.
This is somewhat true. What I did for a temporary solution in my celica was:

    1) push the short legs al the way through
    2) create a little hook in the legs
    3) cut a piece of 18G wire
    4) use an individual copper thread to wrap around the "hook" and the and bulb housing.
    5) wait for led replacements :)

Works like a charm so far. Its tedious work tho.

OR just simply sodder on the the short legged bulbs
