I agree with everything you said. You are saving them labor on removing the old ones, and they are trying to double down on something they have to do anyway. A good dealer wouldn't charge you for that. Places like that are where the term "Stealership" originates from.

    Scumbags.

@sleepsinshed it's probably too late to take the truck to another dealer? They're screwing you man. Hate to say it but it's going to get worse once they have the truck apart.

The general rule is if they have to replace something anyway, they shouldn't charge you (for labor). Anything extra, and understandably, they will charge you.

My dealership just called..found 2 holes, replacing it...nothing else is bad...so they're putting everything as I have it. I also had to argue about getting either a truck or something comparable to tow...all of my landscaping stuff. Getting a new 4Runner!!! win.

Would anyone know if they have to remove the rear shocks, when they replace the leaf springs? My Haynes manual say yes, but according to the 2 different dealerships, they don't. I was hoping to swap the old rear shocks for new old ones, if they ever do replace the rear leaf springs under the recall. I was quoted $156 for labor on the rear and $310 for labor on the front + $89.99 for an alignment, so I think I may try to replace front and back myself and only have an alignment performed.

They're going to tear your truck apart, put a new frame under it, and put it all back together, and then CHARGE YOU to align it? That seems fishy...

I'm not having my frame replaced, so sorry about the confusion. I will be getting the rear leaf springs replaced under the recall and wondered if anyone knows if the rear shocks would need to be removed also when doing the rear leaf spring recall? I planned on having the dealership swap the rear shocks with news ones, but they want to charge $156 for labor to do it, so I may do both the front and back myself.

I asked about installing an aftermarket exhaust. They said no problem if it uses the factory mounting locations. Unfortunately, magnaflow doesn't make one for the dclb

I too am on the list for a new frame ('05 AC TRD4x4). I have my original shocks on the truck and the service guy suggesting a great time to replace them at that time. I was shocked with a mere 152K miles on it.(lol) I have read a bit about the Blistein 5100's here. Are they the best option for ride quality (lots of highway miles daily, no lift)? Any particular shop have the best prices to get them from? Like others, about a 2-3 month wait to get all the parts in.

I agree. My dealership said they would be ripping everything off anyway to replace the frame, and putting new parts on is much easier (no charge). Seems like the dealer is getting paid from Toyota for the replacement, and payment from the owner for same work performed. Very fishy indeed.

Just an update for anyone experiencing the flaking of the corrosion compound. I just got off the phone with a case manager from Toyota corporate and he said that I am SOL. It is a one time thing. They will not do anything about it all the compound flaking off. He said he speaks to three to four people a day with the same issue but Toyota has not decided to do anything for it. For those getting a new frame I am happy for the prolonged life of your vehicle. For those getting sprayed, bummer.

    Cheers

What about the frame warranty I've heard other guys with the CRC jobs mention? I thought it was either 5, or 10 years?

Even if you don't use them for any lift (most guys do), they are a much better shock than the stock Bilstiens.

The cheapest place I've seen is mentioned in this thread:

When they did the LSC and sprayed my frame with CRC, the service manager said they would not extend the warranty on the frame, the way they did on previous year Tacoma's.

I'm curious if they installed the 6 rectangular plastic plugs under the front wheelwells of your trucks frame, when they did the LSC (3 on each side), like all the newer Tacoma trucks come with? I know that they keep dirt/salt out of the interior of the frame and they wouldn't be installing them on newer Tacoma frames for no reason.
