Lift Problem

SO today i was installing this lift http://www.4wheelparts.com/Lift-Kit...ks.aspx?t_c=1&t_s=38&t_pt=3533&t_pn=EXPK5075B and on the instructions it sends you its for a few behicle but online they have it for your specific model and i never thought of going online and dowloading them so todat we got to a step in the book and we had a few parts that looked like they didnt belong and it told us to cut the sway bar collar off and online that step isnt in it and now im worried that i done something wrong/messed up the truck so if you dont mind can someone tell me what the sway bar collar does and do i need to order new ones

 

Not sure what the sway bar "collar" is but I know many guys on here run their truck without a sway bar. I'm not sure why a 3" kit would require any cutting though.....doesn't make much sense. With all I have read, only the 6" kits require cutting.

 

They prevent the sway bar from "sliding" from side to side. Usually on the inside side of the sway bar bushing.

 

Yea we cut it but like i said it was almost like a universal instruction thing but i was wondering will it hurt my truck if i dont have them on it

 

"Technically" the bar could slide and your tire might rub against the bar when he truck flexes.

I have heard of the bar sliding with stock collars on FJ Cruisers.

 

well i honestly wont be in any situations where i would be flexing at all if so it would happen alot and we had to cut it before we installed something else before that and Ill take some pics of it tomorrow

 

I don't understand why on a 3" Taco lift you would be doing anything other than unbolting the sway bar from the spindle to get some room to work and install the new strut.

 

Like i said it was one installation book for the FJ and another model of tacoma

 

Just completely unbolt it and remove from your truck. Dont know where you cut it but just take it off. If you need more instruction then that let us know

I can tell you that my truck didn't have that collar setup, just the silver piece. However, the silver collar seemed a little closer to the bracket.

 

Plenty of people remove it....it limits flex in the suspension while off road.
