Name this issue....

Doing the winter tire change over today and noticed oil/grease everywhere on the bottom of the shock. What could this be? Need to replace the shock Im guessing? I have a screw driver holding up the plastic can, thats why its at the top in the pic. Any help is great

Would love to, but I was off work for months with a concussion and i have no extra money left. Well mostly because what money I had is going into tracks for my ATV, and they have killed my wallet

 

According to Bilstein, some leakage is normal, however, your pic, IMO is way more than normal...read through this:

Same thing happened to my old truck. Changed out for a new set and the ride improved so much! I didn't realize how bad they were!

 

Remember it is best to replace your shocks in pairs.

 

Blown shock or your CV has a tear and is thowing grease.

Maybe you could get bilstein to (honor) their warranty. Looks like a material's defect to me! Whether it works or not, it's worth a shot? Good luck!

Bilstein says workmanship or materials for as long as you the original purchaser own your vehicle. I'd chew on their ear, or, put my foot up their *ss. Remember, the squeaky wheel is the one that gets the grease! Give em hell!

 

Anyone think I can drive on this for a little while? Not feeling another 500 dollar bill with the shock, installation, and new alignment
