I just had the U-joint on the front of the drive shaft break and it looks like the yoke is damaged. I'm having trouble finding the part number for the yoke so I can order a new one. 2006 DCSB 4x4

The heat shield is also damaged.

    Like 1,000 bucks...

Did you have greasable universal joints?

Did you grease them? Appearance says no.

Search the forum I think someone posted a part number for the yoke...

I would go to the local dealer and grab a new u-joint and then hit the local salvage yard to get the rest of the goods.

You'll have it back on the road in no time.

After that you need to figure out what caused the failure so it doesnt happen again. (Unless of course this was a factory recall/defect thing)

Yes the U-joints are greasable and they have been getting greased in the 2 years that I've had the truck.

You okay? Your lucky you didn't do a cartwheel if you were going fast and the front broke, I've heard some horror stories about that.

I've broke my fair share off the rear diff. What do you think caused it?

I'll say wear and tear. The U-joint at the rear diff looked worn along with play in the carrier bearing so I recently bought the parts. It was a crazy loud bang since it broke as I was accelerating on the access road to get on the highway.

Yeah that bang! Whoop and then when you break it at the rear it keeps thrashing around for just a minute until you realize what happened lol! The first time I had a driveshaft cut loose, it was like someone took a can opener to the bed, just sliced it right open where the driveshaft was swinging around haha.

You might be able to just pull everything out of a junkyard and slap it in. Having the u joints new though might give you better piece of mind.

I'm at work until the morning so I'll check out salvage yard inventories online and see if I get lucky.

The U-joints and carrier bearing that I already bought are Spicer.

Whoever had it before you didn't. You were just riding on borrowed time. Glad you didn't wreck...

    Replace them all.
